Anyone know of a do-it-yourself way of measuring front wheel camber (on a
Mk2 Golf)? Something ingenious with mirrors, blu-tac and torch light beams perhaps - a method too flimsy and time-consuming for everyday professional garage use, but perfectly acceptable for an enthusiastic amateur? Tod |

"Joe" wrote in message ... try a small laser beam Yes, a laser beam opens up all sorts of possibilities. I reckon I will be able to do camber and toe with the same set-up - and do without the inaccuracies of spirit-levels too. I just hope a fairly cheap laser (slide show pointer, c.£10) will be good (sharp) enough. Tod |

Of course there is one small slight problem. Unless your struts have got elongated holes the camber on a mk2 isn't adjustable. However VW do sell a set of strut bolts with an 11mm shaft rather than 12mm to allow a small amount of adjustment. If you've got a Haynes manual look in there for the part number. They have changed the part number since but that will point your local dealer in the right direction PS I don't know where you are based and who's local but our local tyre centre has a 4wheel laser alignment job and charges £10 a corner they need to adjust ![]() (I've got a set on mine as the lowering kit shoved mine right out, couple of quid for both pairs of bolts) -- Jon Remove "usenetspam" from address above to reply |
