I think your speedo overreads a bit. 0 - 100 in under 9 seconds? NO WAYS.
I also have a 1600 CSL 1986 in my household and it will never do 0 - 100
under 9 seconds. But I know that my speedo overreads quite a bit.

I would have to agree, me being an engineer and frequently getting
bored, I ran My golf with a set of accelerometers hooked to a laptop,
which was borroweed from work and even running on Optimax and without
the spare tyre I could only manage 10.35
