Default 16v conversion saga...help!!!

All - Have now moved the engine from my 16v to the old 8v. Have moved loom
and all seems at home and in place in its new home......

But....16v will not start. Initially the pumps would not prime the system
when the ignition was turned.I mangaed to get this to work today and it now
primes but I don't seem to have a spark! The coil has an ignition controlled
positive and has a negative too - have I missed something obvious?

Has anyone done this conversion before (to a Mk1 or a Mk2) and have any
suggestions? It's so nearly there now and it's just not catching!

Thanks all

Michael

Update - He's running! Various things stopping this from happening sooner
but I don't care! I now have one of the earliest Mk2 16v's known!!!

I still have to do the downpipe gasket tomorrow and the rear engine mount.
Gear linkage could do with an adjustment too and that's it!!

Not a job I'd recommend but in hindsight - really not that bad!!

Rob - It's gone quite well really and it's so close! I'm hoping it's a ICU
problem - I'm sure it's not ECU as there's no spark yet to control!

The full enlarged 16v bore exhaust is on too, clutch, ECU, gearbox -
basically the whole lot!

Will be spending a whole day on him tomorrow - finger's crossed!

Sorry, I can't help, but any joy with this? Sounds like you're well past

the
worst!
