fuel pump rebuild kit by george taylor
Does any one know where I can get a rebuild kit for the original VW fuel pumps that were on a 70 bug with the 1600 single port? I know I can get a rebuild kit for the earlier one, and can get a aftermarket fuel pump, but would like to find a rebuild kit and use the original ones I have instead. George Taylor USA

Broken Speedometer Cable by 69bug
Hi, yesterday on my way to work the speedometer stopped working on my 69 Beetle. I unscrewed the end of the speedometer and pulled at the cable inside. When I removed the entire cable, I found one end sheared off. As far as I am aware, the other end should be firmly in place inside the wheel with the other end popping through and held on by a clip or pin. OK, so I took the front wheel off and...

Stumbling at 65 mph by Su
Hello, My 1972 camper has been off the road last year and I have now got it going again. When I took it out for a test run, I noticed that as I reved up a steep hill near where I live, it started to stumble to a point where the 1600 engine would cut out. This I thought is a good time to service/replace some overdue items. 1. The carburettor (replace old 34 PICT 3 with new BOCAR). There was...

Dashboard by Manuel Macedo
Hi there, On my recent '70 1300L bug I found 2 buttons/lights i dont quite understand. Since I dont have access to a manual (only the Muir book) maybe someone can help me. Under the dash, on the left side of the steering weelthere is a push button. Is that standard or some past owner gizmo? If standard, what does it do? It seems to do nothing when I push it. On the dashboard, center upper left of...

GT or not? by caroline
Bought a scrapper beetle as a donor for my resto project last week. Bargain at ?50. But a few aspects of it have me scratching my head in confusion. Firstly its Tomato Red...was this a GT-only colour, or would it have been on other beetles in the same year too? If its a GT only colour, that ticks the GT box. Its a '73, built December '72...so that bit ticks the GT box also. It has tan...

Dead golf - immobiliser? by Pep
Weird problem just killed my golf. I have a 1.8GL Automatic Golf on a "P" plate. It has been running okay with no problems yet all of a sudden it will not attempt to start. The symptoms are that when I turn the key in the ignition to the first position, the dashboard lights up with the usual oil, etc lights coming on and the needle on the petrol gauge starts to climb towards the full position....

Adjustable axle notches by Spike
Hi, Do the centre adjusters need to be on matching notches top and bottom axle tube (i.e. in the same position)? When I moved mine, I adjusted them (in unison) from where they had individually settled. Just wanted to check I have it right before moving on to something else.

Engine Oil? by Graham Webber
Just wondering if anybody has any recommendations on what grade / type of engine oil I should be using in my '72 1600cc camper? I am not sure what the previous owner used. Could I drain the system and replace with whatever is recommended? Thanks again Graham

3/4 Rock and Roll Bed - Seatbelts by Graham Webber
Hello all. Just wondering if it is possible to fix 2x 3point inertia belts to a ¾ size rock and roll bed, in a 1972 type 2 camper? I have read somewhere that only the one next to the windows can be a 3point, the one in the middle has to be a 2point lap belt. Has anybody fitted 2x 3point belts to a ¾ rock and roll bed? (I need to fix 2 children's car seats in the back some how?)

Bad idle / missing by Spike
Hi, Any pointers would be really appreciated as I'm pretty much flummoxed! I have a 68' Type1 1500cc. It has been off the road a good few years, and only been back in use for a month or so. I'm still pretty unfamiliar with VW engines so am learning as I go. I noticed a slight loss of power / missing when accelerating when warm so decided to quickly pull the plugs and do the points etc.
