vw Rust by Mortda
I'm considering about the prospect of purchasing a late 60's VW and would like some advice as to where to look for rust problems and as to how critical these areas are likely to be to the running and safety of the vehicle TIA Mort

I now have already a 2.0 motor (no dynamo,no carburator etc.) But i don't know which carburator to install. Camper van height by Gareth Edwards
Does anyone know what the height is of a standard campervan (bay and splitty)? I am going to build myself a garage soon, and as I am thinking of buying an old Type 2 to restore next year, I need to be sure that it will fit. Cheers

Dim rear Light by VW Internet
Hi, I lent my car to someone, and as they drove off, i noticed, when the hadlights are on, one of the rear red lights is a lot dimmer than the other. I fell for this before, but it ended up being the housing wasnt in as far as it could go. In this case it seems electrical. Any ideas?

Can't go over 50mph? by Howard Rose
After recent problems in my '66 not running properly I have replaced most of the ignition system: new points, condenser, rotor arm distributor cap, HT leads, spark plugs. I also set the point, plug and valve gaps, as well as setting the ignition timing properly. Carb was dismantled, cleaned up and reassembled. Result is that the car runs fine! Lovely and smooth around town power seems there,...

VW Golf GTi 2.0 8 Valve by VW Internet
Hi, Just a quick question, about a gearbox. Why would a gearbox be hard to get into 1st and 2nd gear, when the engine and gearbox is cold, but within a few miles of a journey, its as smooth as as silk ? Thanks :-)

Free "Safer Motoring" mags by Pidgeonpost
Remember the "Safer Motoring" mags? Compulsory reading in the 1970's, which is when these date from - can't remember how many there are - probably 20 or so I guess. I'll count them and provide more details if any interest is shown. Well worth a look if only for the clothes! Probably a bit heavy to post, so may suit collection (Gloucestershire).

Running rough and lack of power by Howard Rose
After running perfectly for a while, my '66 has decided to throw a tantrum and cunningly find new ways in which to confuse me Basically, when I am driving the car there is a lack of power in the second half of the gear ranges. Idling seems to be fine, and acceleration of the car when idle seems fine too. However, when driving the problem becomes apparent! In first gear at about 12mph the...
