Hey all, Was rebuilding my Bocar 34 Pict/3 Carb and seem to have overtightened the volume screw. I never felt it bottom out (so maybe it was done prior to my rebuilding?) and it stripped some of the threads. Does this necessitate a new carb or can in still be adjusted properly, just without the advantage of knowing where it was supposed to seat so I could turn in back out the required 2 1/2...

I am just checking the authenticity of body panels and notice that the 'Semi W' engine lid appears to be like a 1966 (with only part of the top 'W' showing above the light). I have a 1968 Beetle 1300 which has 5553 F - 465232 riveted onto the engine where the engine number should be. Can anyone tell me what this means please as it doesn't seem to match the codes used? Just acquired a '79 Westy Berlin from Ireland. But its newly imported in to Ireland from the USA, all import taxes and duties paid....but not registered. How are the DVLA and HM Customs likely to handle this. Technically its being imported from an EU country, so *shouldn't* require further import duties or taxes...but has never been registered in an EU country.
