nospammer999@hotmail.com
Hi - wonder if anyone can help
my 18year old son just bought an old nova as his first car as he
wanted something cheap to insure etc...
but now isurance comany is asking if the alloy wheels are original
spec... otherwise its a mod and they won't insure.
Last seller say they were on car when he bought it 2 years ago...
car is a Jan 1993 nova 1.2 "merit plus"...
alloys have vauxhall logo on them...

Car mods in Ipswich/Suffolk by
Spookydel
Guys
Hope you can point me in the right direction.
I'm looking for a club / group that does car mods in the Ipswich or
Suffolk Area.
I'm planning a mini motorshow thing for June time, and we'd quite like
to get some guys along to show off their motors.

That was a bit of a head scratcher. by
Elder
Decided to do the plugs etc this bright and shiney day.
Did the plugs on the first easy to get at bank no worries.
Fired it up, ran great.
Undid the AFM, lifted it carefully out the way, and swapped the second
set. Decided to do all the leads while the AFM and the LPG coolant pipes
are pulled away.
Puts it back together, won't even fire.
Puts the old King lead back in, still nothing.

It's home! by
SteveH
Finally got the 75 back today.
Have to say that 'JonCedric' has done a fantastic job - all the rot in
the panels has been cut out and replaced by solid metal and very neatly
done with minimal filler.
He even managed to get the grey plastics sprayed up in something not too
far removed from the original colour.
If anyone needs bodywork or structural stuff doing, I wouldn't hesitate

[OT] **** car compo. by
conkersack@googlemail.com
Seems that Derv and SteveH are showing off their back catalogue of
wheels, so I thought I'd start a competition to find out who has owned
the worst/best nail.
I'll start:
1.
1978 Chev Impala station wagon in white (first car I owned) 350 (5.7l)
V8, rear wheel drive, front disc brakes, one (!) studded tyre (back
left), Buick rear door in unsettling brown, Chev Caprice front grill

electronics, anyone? by
Trumpetskickbrass@gmail.com
Well, I have a thing for special effects lighting, and today I started
modding my car with some LED's. I robbed the 12V power source from the
cigarette lighter (I'll never smoke) to power quite a few LED's all
throughout the car - in the vents, floors, grill, etc. While I was
doing the final touches (ie, soldering the toggle switch connections)
I had accidentally left the battery connected after...

Warning Kinnor Services filterpower.co.uk poor service by
jamesb72@googlemail.com
Just a warning if anyone is thinking of buying a K&N Air filter from
UK company Kinnor Services or their filterpower.co.uk website.
I ordered a K&N filter from them at beginning of March, the price was
higher than I saw at other sites, but i had used this company a few
years ago with no problems, so I paid the extra expecting them to be
reliable. The air filter arrived a few days later and did...

[OT] NASCAR Fans by

No wonder the Top Gear guys got such a poor reception from those Alabama
gas station people. I post a message about Richard Petty being dead on a
NASCAR forum, and get this response:

Tyre Prssures by
Peter
I took my Peugeot 206 (180 GTi) in to have a slow puncture sorted. That
done, the man in the tyre shop gets out the airline and asks me what
pressure am I putting in them. I told him that I was using the
recommended pressure of 2.4 bar/35 PSI. He told me that was too much.
All that would do would wear the centre of the tyres out. He said that
30 PSI should be the max. Now I'm not sure if to...

Tyres by
Douglas Payne
Does anyone on here have much experience of fiddling with tyres?
My (new to me) car has budget 205 45 R16 tyres on it.
Higher performance 195 45 R16s are cheaper from the likes of mytyres and
blackcircles than 205s. Forgive my naivety, but will the skinnier tyres
fit the wheels I have and is it a good idea?

Ebay bargains by
Tony Bond
Has anyone noticed the lack of obvious bargains on ebay recently ?
I used to have a bid on unusual items (usually car related) and get 'em for
silly-cheap prices more often than not, now everything I'm interested in
seems to go for top prices.
So why is it when I come to sell anything, I don't get these silly prices ?
Or if I do it's for a cheap item :)
There's still some bargains to be had,...
