Actual car content by
Fraser Johnston[_2_]
Dropped the gearbox and transfer case of a mates Patrol in my driveway
yesterday. What a prick of a job. The thing weighed more than the
engine/gearbox in my RX-7.

Elder: Move somewhere less pikey or wait for the knock-on effect by
fishman
Carl
Warrington's been named the place with the worst quality of life in
the UK.
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/30080/oneplace-council-comparison-site-launched
Upside is, house prices might come down, then the council will pump in
loads of investment to make it a nice place and house prices will go
up.

Dear private car sellers... by
Timo Geusch
If you've got a personal plate on the car, take the ****ing thing off
before putting the car up for sale if you don't want to sell the plate
with the car. If I'm looking for a car and bidding on your shed on ebay,
it's because I want/need the car now and I don't intend to hang around
for weeks while the DVLA does perfect their usual delaying tactics.

American Hotrod. by

Weekdays at 19.00 hrs on Quest.TV.
The cars they build are crap IMO, but one has to appreciate the skills shown
by most of those that create them.
ATM they are building a complete car from aluminium. (or aluminum as they
say). All except for those parts that need to be steel. Exhaust pipes,
engine gearbox and transmission.parts etc.

Golf Mk2 'scratchy' clutch by
Timo on tour
I looked at a half-decent Golf Mk2 yesterday but the one thing I
wasn't too keen on was a clutch that felt rather rough. It disengaged/
engaged OK, but didn't do so in a smooth fashion.
It did feel like the clutch cable was on the way out but I was
wondering if there are other, potentially more expensive clutch-
related problems that would plague these?

195/60/15 on 7J wheels instead of 205/50/15? by
Timo Geusch
What's the opinion?
Background - if the tweaking of the Integrale goes OK, we'll probably
take it to my mum's place over Chrimbo. Given that this involves
mountains and can involve lots of snow (we've had 50cm+ there overnight
before), I don't want to drive there on summer tyres and the 195/60s are
a lot easier to find. Plus, they're roughly within 1% of the rolling
radius of the 205s, so I'm...

Won't need that van right away after all. by
Elder
Bloody house I was ready to make an offer for has fallen through.
Why bother putting a house on the market for a week, when your relative
wants you to sell it after they have gone into care, rack up estate
agents fees, allow viewings, and when someone comes along with a
mortgage, no chain, deposit burning a hole in their account, and wanting
to know if they are leaving any of the appliances...

I think that is the biggest I can drive on my post 2000 license, and I'm
going to need one for a couple of days for the move out.

****s by
Steve Firth
The BBC that is. Top Gear has been moved today to appear half an hour
earlier. It's the one racing around Belfast's sewers BTW.
But that's not the end of the ****tishness. The next three episodes are
not to be seen anywhere in the BBC listings. So that's the James May
programmes on toys, Wallander and Top Gear that have all now been
shelved partway through a series with no warning that it was...

Ovlov T4s by
Bob Sherunckle
Who's had one / driven one ?
What are they like ?
Would I hate it ?
Thinking of a V40 T4 which I see advertised at 'the right money'.
Of course, there's usually a reason for something being cheap.

My reputation as a safe and careful driver is totally shot. by

Managed to spin 270 degrees setting up to exit a roundabout at about 15-
20mph.
Must have been diesel as my tyres are all still decent, but it felt like
I had just stepped onto sheet ice, the front went a bit light, then trc
went mental as I pirouetted gracefully round avoiding all sorts of cars,
cheap and not so, and ended up facing the wrong way, almost sideways on,
on a high planted...

TSI Engines - Any Good? by
John[_21_]
Are TSI engines any good? Has anyone got a VW or anything with one?
I'm just wondering if they can be chipped or tuned to get more hp out
of them should you need it e.g. like you can with a TDI?
I've just got a 1.6 petrol Megane (115hp) at the moment
and want to stick to petrol but with more hp, but don't want insurance
or tax to go up "too" much. I'm thinking a TSI might be an option.
There...
