Tosser Central by

There's a location not far from where I work where every single car in a
very large company car park is some variant of BMW.
Surely that has to be the company with the biggest proportion of *******
working for it in the whole of the UK?

Two piece discs by
Dave Plowman (News)
I'm intending fitting rear discs to my SD1 - but the usual way involves
both alterations to the hub and a stock disc from another model.
I obtained some ally bells from a racing one which fit without
modification and take standard AP flat discs - but these cost more than
the modified stock ones. Any one know of a cheaper source? It's only for
ordinary road use.

Shiny by
Steve Firth
Well after some searching and angst I now have a new car.
No, not the SAAB. Much as I liked that, we couldn't agree on the value.
I've now got a completely eco-warrior friendly eco-car. It's congestion
charge exempt, reduced VED and everything.
No, it's not a devastatingly fast cross-country Pious. It's a
devastatingly slow cross-country urban assault vehicle. A Jeep Grand
Cherokee.

I'm down to two cars. Well, at least one of them is currently away for
repair, so everything is still right in the world.

So, just how much of a risk by
Steve Firth
Is it to buy a low mileage SAAB 9-5 3.0 Turbo?
I'm concerned with a low mileage SAAB that it's spent a lot of time
doing shopping trips and has cooked the turbo bearings. Is that likely?
Mileage is less than 6000 per year.
OTOH it's a stonking car and I want it. The only other problem is that
it's 400 miles away and I'm very, very busy.

toyota avensis mini review. by
Tim S Kemp
Ride: OK, bit bouncy at motorway speeds, seems to get light at fast motorway
speeds. Not like a mondeo, more like an old Vectra.
Handling: Torque steer. Understeer. Sometimes both. Steering too light. Not
like a mondeo
Controls: Pedal feel is crap. Clutch light but springy and not very
progressive. Brakes feel odd. Accelerator way too light, not much action
until near the floor. Not like a...

A genuine modification question. ;-)
Anyone know where you can buy the plug lead coil end connectors and rubber
boots for EDIS coils?

Hello from the future. by
fishman
Well, eleven hours into the future, but twenty years behind in most
other respects.
Yes, I'm now in Australia and have purchased a vehicle, powered by an
engine that has its cylinders arranged in a V configuration.

Car for Dervy ? (actual modified car post !) by
Tony \(UncleFista\)
I have to say I'd love one, I've always liked the idea of a lightweight
"older" car with a modern engine in it :)

Lightweight for now, not at the time :)

Skoda Superb mini review. by
Pete M[_4_]
New shape one, '10' plate, diesel.
Other than having a diesel engine, a bloody nice car. Huge inside, quiet
on the motorway (grumbles horribly like all diesels do in town), comfy
seats, good ride, seemed to handle well enough, decent stereo, good brakes.
Oh, and even with me driving it *averaged* 62 mpg over 110 miles of
mainly motorway, not hanging about much driving.
I may have to try...

Right, the Insignia has gone back and I have the IS back. by
Elder
And I think I like turbo diesels.
While the seating position was too high, and the mirror obstructive, and
the washer jets totally failed front and rear (yes checked fluid and
jets and fuse), generally the car was excellent. Love the low end torque
and the turbo woosh, after getting back in the IS it felt like I was in
a gutless slug until I got used to revving again. But the seating...

Diseasel thoughts by

Still quite liking the Synergie - honest.
It's a bus in comparison to the golf GTI, but I worked in the building trade
for years. Driving a van suits me :-))
HDi is much more linear than the VAG TDI.
Power starts building from around 1,500rpm, becomes useful at 1,750 and is
really strong around 2,000 onwards.
Don't know what it does after 3,000 as I've never gone there - I usually
change up...

Boom, another years MOT passed with the same advisory as last year. by
Elder
one small chip on the windscreen.
I remember when I bought it with 2 mot last January, SteveH crowing that
it was a wreck then and would cost a fortune to get through the first
one.
Two down, two clean. One cambelt service of £300 and fuel/tax/insurance
have been the only costs. Does exactly what I need it to do, even if it
is a big boring unless I rev it well.

Modding my wheels. by

D'oh.
Nevermind, "I'll have it straightened" says I. Investigations showed
that it was about £55+VAT locally, and I got a couple of recommendations
just to buy a new one as they're never quite the same after they've been
heated up and belted/jacked.

COLONISATION: The REAL Story of the Immigrants Who Opened theFloodgates by
Western Voice
The Culture of Critique reviewed by Stanley Hornbeck
In The Culture of Critique, Evolutionary Psychologist Professor Kevin
MacDonald advances a carefully researched but extremely controversial
thesis: that certain 20th century intellectual movements – largely
established and led by Jews – have changed European societies in
fundamental ways and destroyed the confidence of Western man. He
claims...
