Aftermarket ECU's by
Homer
What sort of power are to expecting to get? Surely it would work out cheaper
to use RS Turbo parts unless it's a lot of power you're after.
I've got an MBE system that I haven't had any poblems with, but I've never
really needed to do any changes to it yet.

That rattle...... by
**-**
Found the cause when I'd got the Saab in the air today and one of the rose
joints had a 'tiny' amount of play in it. Still they've lasted nearly
3000miles, which is about a thousand more than the balljoints lasted on it.
Scary thing was how knackered the joint was and it still felt better than
the ball joints did LOL, fact that the lining fell out miles ago might not
have helped either ;-)

Mondeo Zetec by
Carl Gibbs
Went in one of these last night (2litre LX, 03 reg), and i have to say i
wasnt particularly impressed with the Zetec engine (thats suppose to be
quite good). It has bugger all pulling power low down, which makes it a bit
**** to drive. Admittadly once above 4000rpm it will scream around to the
rev limiter. I was told it is a VVT engine (dunno if thats right), which i
guess explains it, but its...

Turbo intercoolers - purpose? by
Kenny
Long and boring, I'm afraid ;o)
I'm trying to understand the purpose of intercoolers on turbo-charged
cars. I've done a web search and the basic reason to cool the intake
charge seems to be to reduce the possibility of detonation. That seems
quite logical, and I'm quite happy with that.
However a lot of the sites talked about reducing the "density" of the
intake charge, (since cold air is...

Art car, tidy up, or restore? The fate of my Mercedes... by
Richard Kilpatrick
It's solid underneath, I reckon it'll get the MOT no problem once I've
fixed one headlight (diffuser fell off) and the springs. So...
Shall I paint it pink and call it 'Perdita, Queen of the Autobahn'
Shall I just tidy it up a little and use it, or sell it?
Shall I have a go at restoring it?
Or shall I do something else with it?
Since I'm too late for Plymouth-Dakar or even Staples to...

Hi
Could anyone please recommend (or warn me which to avoid) any alloy wheel
refurb firms (mobile if poss) for SE London/North Kent?
Is there such a thing? I can't really see someone being able to sandblast
and paint an alloy in situ. We had a set of 15" wheels done for £50 a piece
at a place on an...

Can anyone identify my carb? by
SteveH
Spent ages on the phone to the UK's main supplier of Weber replacement
carbs today, only to be told that what I think I have isn't possible. (I
reckon I have a MkI Scirocco lump in the Golf, but the MkI Scirocco has
a longitudinal engine, rather than transverse)
So, I've taken some snaps, and put them online - hopefully someone can
identify it for...
