Impending doom, errr, sig change by
Timo Geusch
On Sunday I shall be picking up what certain people consider to be a
slightly tuned VW beetle...
And because I'm a firm believer in the quality of German engineering (or
just plain daft), I'll be taking said vehicle to Germany and France. Oh
well, the insurance *does* include breakdown cover.
Late 911 Carrera 3.2 Targa with an entirely believeable 60k on the
clock.

V12 Power by
Bob Sherunckle
Had a go in the 750i tonight - he got it home today.
It's been a while since I drove a decently large engine and I had forgotten
what it feels like. Not that I've ever driven anything larger than a 3.5
before.
I've driven underpowered petrol engines for a couple of years now and do
occasionally hanker after the lazy grunt of a turbo diseasal.
TD engines maybe do feel grunty after a normally...

I'm removing the cat from the Chimaera, which required a EPROM change in the
ECU. TVR (in their infinite wisdom) have different cat/none cat chips,
which is daft as you are supposed to just change the tune resistor to select
the correct map.
Anyway, it got me thinking, what can I do with an ECU? So I don't waste to
much time in the research department, does anyone know of, or can point me...

I hate exhausts by
Carl Gibbs
I've officially decided that I hate exhuasts. Both cars are suffering with
problems, and both are causing me headaches.
The SD1 has a strange raspy/metallic knocking noise (hard to describe) when
you hit about 3.5krpm. It's been suggested than a slight exhaust blow early
on in the system could cause such a noise, so I've been taking it all apart
and replacing downpipes and gaskets. The...

HVLP spray systems by
Homer
Anyone got any recommendations for a reasonably priced HVLP spray system?
Will shortly have a large wooded garage to spray with preservative and I've
bought an Landrover to fix up that will require painting. Being a Landrover
it doesn't need a concourse finish so just looking for something reasonably
priced that will do a decent job.

That'll be a new set of front tyres on my 'Velle 174 then. Arse.
God alone knows how many (few?) miles it'll do on a set when it get chipped
next month. 174bhp/400NM std, 227bhp/572NM when 'breathed upon'.
It does go pretty quick for a van ;)

OT: Mobile contract up soon, and I'm tempted by an Omnia. by
Elder
I know last time when I was on a £30 month contract, I needed to go
through retentions and agree to a new 18month contract to get the phone
upgrade I wanted for free. I got a "plan review" which suggested I
should drop to a racoon 25 and save £5 a month, but I can't see them
giving a new upgrade for free this time round.
So, who is your phone provider of choice?
I want the Samsung Omnia so...

Aren't GS300/Aristos aging better you might think. by
Elder
Just doing the usual nose arround ebay to see if there was anything
remotley interesting jap to post on the retro rides ebay thread.
But got drawn to the modernish Toyota/Lexus listings as you do.
Now I'm loving the Saab at the moment. Apart from the AC being a bit
dicky and blowing warm because the inside of the car is warm despite
being gassed and holding, since I fitted that cheap...
