Aftermarket knock sensor for Rover V-8 by
Dave Plowman (News)
Latest versions of the Rover V-8 have the block casting modified to accept
a knock sensor (thanks Badger).
Anyone fitted one to an earlier engine and if so where and how? One type
I've found which might be suitable is secured by a bolt going through it
so could be the easiest type to use.

OT: Rant by
Carl Gibbs
I ****ing hate Apple.
I've finally succumbed and bought an iPod. It's my other halfs birthday in
just over a week so a couple of weeks ago I ordered her a Pink iPod nano off
the Apple website. They even offered a free engraving service - great I
thought, and got that done too.
Last night I was feeling all smug because Nat was saying how she'd seen a
pink nano in the Apple shop and how she...

Not the most productive day by
SteveH
Washed and waxed the 'wagon, cleaned and fed the leather.
Routed a 4-way adaptor from the lighter socket to under the armrest and
ran a cable to power my Sat. Nav. on the right hand side of the
instrument pods.
Then it all went wrong.
Bought a Kenwood Bluetooth / iPod head unit, pulled the old head unit
and plugged the new one in.

Guess the car by

Looks like Someone was in a hurry, but try and see what car it is, I have
tried slowing it down but can just make out a spoiler and a back end like a
supra.
Any ideas?

Silverstone: Mini Review by
Douglas Payne
Bigger circuit than Knockhill and toilets shinier but no less smelly.
Unbelieveable amount of Tarmac around the place.
Full of ****s on go-peds, quads and scooters doing burnouts in the
middle of the night.
Had a couple of memorable experiences including being crew for a racing
team in a support race and getting thrown out of the pit lane during
night qualifying for the Britcar 24hr. (c:

Sportwagon Pics by
SteveH
Washed, polished, waxed, head unit fitted and working.
Work to do:
HIDs (Kit sent was wrong one for reflector / clear lens headlamps)
Reversing sensor (need to order new numberplates, as rear one needs
moving upwards / downwards slightly to fit it, and the front one is
mounted a few cms too far towards the centre for a 156)
No other mods planned, other than perhaps a K&N panel filter, to cut...

What do the letters MAFF stand for? MAP I understand. TPS, even. AFM just

Modifying 1/18 scale models.... by
tomScotland[_3_]
....anyone here into it? I've got a collection of 5 or 6 Opel Manta's in
1/18th. Some are too good to mess with but there are a couple I want to
modify, i.e paint/different wheels/lower/etc etc.
There seems to be loads of stuff on the german ebay, but a total dearth of
anything here in the uk. I don't know much about it tbh, anyone got any
tips/websites/help they can give?

Forums can be bad for your wealth. by

Traipsing around one of the E30 forums and I found this

Lot cheaper than the 4.4 to do, and seems to go well enough...

I hate gravity by

No, not the newsreader, the force which inexorably sucks little bits of
engine down and behind other bits of engine in impossible-to-get-at places
while you're busy spannering. Grr.
Plagued by ping-****its too. That'll teach me to be greedy and try and
replace all 4 glowplugs - should have left the last one alone rather than
taking bits off to gain access. Still, I appear to have won for...

Took Burgermans advice by
Carl Gibbs
Today I dumped the K&Ns off the V8 and put the standard airbox back in place
and gave it a direct cold air feed (in a V8 Sierra stylee). No more nasty
resonating noises produced, which is nice. So the engine bay now looks like
this:

And thanks to Dave Plowman the outside now looks like...

damn sounds expensive by

noticed in a noise in my aging E36 a while ago and now it's annoyingly loud!
i reckon i got a rear wheel bearing gone. now i was tempted to do it myself
but after reading up on it and remembering how badly i ****ed up a brake pad
change on the MK1 MR2 i had a few years ago i put it past my skill level.
mechanic mate of mine said bout £150 to sort it which i guess aint to
terrible.
might get...
