Hmm. European travel (a bit OT, prolly Ping: Dervy) by Pete M[_3_]
Here's a quandry. I'm planning a trip to Czech sometime around Xmas, I've got a shedload of stuff I need to take with me, and I'm planning on bringing a load of stuff back with me so I'm thinking taking a vehicle is a good idea, and likely to be fun. However, at this moment I only have a choice of two vehicles to take, the Scorpio or the Rangie (gearbox willing). The Rangie would be the...

Ebay to the Rescue..... fanfare by Pete M[_3_]
Having sold my lovely and already missed Golf to Pete in order to get the Rangie back on the road I've been engaged in a furious ebay frenzy for the last couple of days trying to get a replacement auto box for it. Rangie boxes being the type to either work perfectly or be completely shafted I've been trying to find one the same as the one in mine - the earlier, more agricultural one with the...

2008 Honda S2000 CR by nico
What's your idea of retirement planning? At Car and Driver, our scribblers spend their golden years counting their air miles and grousing about the web interns. If you're Shigeru Uehara, Honda R&D's Executive Chief Engineer, you spend your last year on the job building a track-ready special-edition version of the S2000. Lots of engineers build track toys, but not many get their cars approved for...

Global Warming is caused by the Sun, the Moon and the Stars. by piggypalace.4@goodtimessociety.net
Global Warming is caused by the Sun, the Moon and the Stars. The lunar or long calendar accurately predicts 2012 to be the date the gravity of the planet Venus negatively affects the Moon's lunar trajectory and causes disruptions in the weather patterns on the planet Earth. Known only as, and exacerbated by, Global Warming. Though for communities of the time, then dependent largely on...

Paging PeteM - looking for the moon onna stick with extra sauce by Timo Geusch
As I'm getting fed up with my too ****e and too old runabouts I've decided the get something half decent instead. For various reasons this means a Merc W123 or W124 estate. Now there's not really a shortage of 124 estates but the majority of them seems to be squarely in the '****e' category and have been to Mars and back and as such 'just run in'. So I was wondering if you could keep an eye out...

Today's Meet by Iridium
I'll let Pete (AVM) tell the story of what he did ;-) Was a nice meet, chippy lived up to standards, Conor bought the drinks, and I got my arse massaged (not linked to the drinks buying). Nice little day out. -- Dan Mk1 Clio V6 #57

just done the first run fuel calcs. by Elder
Today on super, at about 210miles. Doing 90+ over the M62/M1 for long periods, I got 28mpg. I reckon if I had stuck to between 56-70 I would have gotten mid 30's. Let's see if the commutes improve now too. -- Carl Robson Audio stream: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com:8000/samtest Homepage: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com

Insurance for continuously modifying... by PC Paul
My insurance is coming up for renewal and I'm thinking about doing some tinkering - at least exhaust and filter, then if finances permit go on to a cam and maybe a chip or even a megasquirt. Which insurance companies are good about mods in the first place and *changing* mods through the year without making you pay through the nose? It's only a 2.0 Mondeo, nothing special. And I'm old enough...

Vinyl Wrap by Abo
SCSA Stock Car getting it's vinyl wrap for the start of the 2007 season. Just came across this, but it's a fairly interesting way of doing it. I've stickered up one of the race trucks before using individual vinyls and it's a ballache... http://www.signsexpress.co.uk/productsVehicle.cfm Here's one I did myself: http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o276/abo999/DSC00431.jpg

Compression ratio advise by Julian[_2_]
Hello all, I trying to determine how much compression I can safely run on an engine that I'm rebuilding and modifying. Firstly is it correct that UK pump fuel is 95RON (regular) and 98RON minimum for superunleaded? Has anyone got some ballpark figures for maximum compression ratios that you can use without running into detonation problems with these fuels. The engine in question is alloy...
