You really need a turbo to thoroughly enjoy a mk2.

It's been done. Believe it goes ok in a Mk1 MR2.

I was aware of several successful homebrews, but I was indeed thinking
of Lotus doing a Noble and sticking a rep mobile lump into a sports car.
