Welcome back. Since I got back I bought a 1984 Mercedes W123 diesel estate but that's now blown a gearbox and is waiting for someone off ebay to collect it tomorrow. SWMBO has the Clio she left her family to look after while we were away and it was not looked after at all, it was pretty ****ed actually. We got it back on the road and it's just about hanging in there. Should last until we go travelling again. I probably won't buy another car if I can get away with it. I cycle to work and back anyway! We both got our full motorbike licenses too. Haven't bought a bike, but the weather has been brilliant this year... I liked that black and silver Honda you had when we visited you but they don't sell them over here. Reminded me of a Ducati Monster, but I expect it wouldn't need as much maintenance! Do you watch Top Gear Australia? I've been downloading it and it's a pretty good effort considering the general quality of TV over there ![]() |

Finally found one that feels right. And a Mondeo TDCi for family duties. -- Conor I only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking good either. - Scott Adams |

A 406 Diesel Estate. Puke. Does the job as far as covering the miles for work though. My girlfriend's Golf. Surprisingly pleasant to drive given what everyone says about the MK3. Underdamped suspension though. Massively pleasant to drive compared to a diesel estate car. My Golf. I've done the sensible thing, and pulled it out of the back of the barn this week. Out of sight is definately out of mind as far as I'm concerned, given that I've done nothing to it since my workload increased during the final year of uni. Current job list is to fix the sunroof (for some reason it no longer seals well and is leaking water into the cabin), fix all the door cards back on and fit a nice stereo. Then I'll put it through another MOT and get it on the road as is. Plans are to get a MK3 16V for its engine and brain, get the struts + hubs off my breaker MK2 16V (for the big brakes), and build everything up on a spare subframe at my leisure, for a relatively pain free swap. That way I'll hopefully avoid the classic project car mission creep, where every job uncovers another thing that you probably ought to do whilst it's in bits, and eventually leads to a car taking eternity to build / you getting sick of it and not looking at it for 18 months... |

Tomorrow, the Audi might be replaced with a 5 door Golf GTI 8 valve in red. I miss torque aznd the Audi has none. (It's a 1.6). I'm a cyclist now too (not on the road, that's suicidal around these parts) So I also have a Diamond Back lakeside too which pleases me more than any of the above right now. SWMBO still has a Seat Ibiza which she's had for 7 years now. I think it might be a keeper that one..... |

Still got the same 01/91 build 06/91 reg car I've had for last 10 years. 79K 178K. 3" drainpipe, 4 pot 300ZX front brakes and lots of rust. Got a 2nd one last Oct, build 12/93 reg 12/94. Auto for Sundays, under 100K, got a filter (may put it on other one). +3rd un '89 65K, that's in so many pieces many of which are on other cars it won't ever drive again. Well not unless one of the other two needs a re-shell and gives all the bits back. At the moment I've got the Volvo 850 T5 as my daily driver, a Mk1 Golf GTi which I'm waiting for the buyer to collect, a Rover P6 3500 I've got to collect tomorrow, a Rover P4 100 which I've got to collect next week and a '62 Skoda Octavia Kombi which I keep meaning to get roadworthy (or even a picture of) -- Pete M - OMF#9 Range Rover V8 Turbo (sold) Volvo 850 T5 CD Estate Mk1 Golf GTi 1.8 (For Sale) "In the beginning the Universe was created.
