(SteveH) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying: The average bloke in the street is well aware that recent Saabs are just tarted-up Vectras. I'd disagree - people may know they're owned by the same company that makes Vectras, but I don't think many are all that aware of the platform sharing. Oh, I think you'd be surprised. The number of (totally un-car) people who've said to me "Oooh, a proper Saab - before they were just Vauxhalls" S'cos they said it on Top Gear, if you remember, when some new convertible Saab came out, May said "If you want a tarted up Vectra convertible, there you go" heh, after they'd discussed that it was just a Vectra underneath. That'll have educated a fair few people, who'd then love to trot it out to anyone they knew with a Saab heh! -- Dan Clio R27 F1 #65 ================================================= I don't really care what Hammond and co say cos they are knobs. To me a a Saab will always be better than aVauxhall. I though it was the twits who believed the crap about fighter jets. Nah, long before the Jets. They didn't really do the jet thing until the later C900, and the 9000. But they have been making 99 turbos since about 1974 I think. At the time of the 900 with it driving over the cliff and disapearing as a jet there still was a link with Saab aero engineering and Saab cars. Still, we can hope that Porsche will buy Saab to re-unite it with Scania and the griffin badges on the older cars can make sense again. -- Carl Robson Get cashback on your purchases Topcashback http://www.TopCashBack.co.uk/skraggy_uk/ref/index.htm Greasypalm http://www.greasypalm.co.uk/r/?l=1006553 |

Good excuse to Hirsch upgrade*. ![]() Best excuse for a Hirsch upgrade is you get black and god Saab roundels, and only Saab people know what that means. The end being the people at the back. Some systems work remarkably well.
I like it icy cold, Charlie likes it furnace hot* and the 9-3 works well in this respects. *minor exaggeration for Usenet purposes. A devastatingly effective minor exaggeration, I must admit. -- "For want of the price of tea and a slice, the old man died." |
