BTW, if you put Ebay links in like http://search.ebay.com/200165808415 then you don't get any hassle with crap newsreaders botching the link... Tell you what'd be handy - if eBay actually provided a shorter link in that sort of format at some point on the auction as a simple "copy + paste friendly link" so people could just do the "copy shortcut" on the right click menu on IE (as that's what most people use) to share stuff. Feel free to mention it to them. They're well known for responding immediately and with full attention to comments from their customers. Oh, wait... Wouldn't be an issue if people used proper newsreaders ;-) -- SteveH 'You're not a real petrolhead unless you've owned an Alfa Romeo' www.italiancar.co.uk - Honda VFR800 - Hongdou GY200 - Alfa 75 TSpark Alfa 156 TSpark - B6 Passat 2.0TDI SE - COSOC KOTL BOTAFOT #87 - BOTAFOF #18 - MRO # - UKRMSBC #7 - Apostle #2 - YTC # |

Wouldn't be an issue if people used proper newsreaders ;-) Not that old chestnut again. If a link is provided, it makes sense for it to be in a form that is easily accepted by most newsreaders, which is why I always use 'SnipURL' for long addresses. Yours becomes:- http://snipurl.com/1stsd Much better. I don't expect those using OE or any other newsreader that wont accept long addresses to have to fiddle with a link I provide, so I make it a simple one click operation. You may not like it, but OE is still a 'proper newsreader' and one in very common usage. It does everything I want it to do, so why should I change it? Mike. |

Yours becomes:- http://snipurl.com/1stsd Much better. Why should I do that to satisfy users of broken newsreaders? I don't expect those using OE or any other newsreader that wont accept long addresses to have to fiddle with a link I provide, so I make it a simple one click operation. You may not like it, but OE is still a 'proper newsreader' and one in very common usage. It does everything I want it to do, so why should I change it? Because it's broken and doesn't comply with several different usenet standards. -- SteveH 'You're not a real petrolhead unless you've owned an Alfa Romeo' www.italiancar.co.uk - Honda VFR800 - Hongdou GY200 - Alfa 75 TSpark Alfa 156 TSpark - B6 Passat 2.0TDI SE - COSOC KOTL BOTAFOT #87 - BOTAFOF #18 - MRO # - UKRMSBC #7 - Apostle #2 - YTC # |
