Which your own ****ing website states is a different head on an Endura-E
block, which is near enough a Kent.

And the 1.6 is a re-heated CVH......

Is a Ka3 still a Kent, or was that just the early Kas?

They're Kents (aka Valencias) with different heads now. IIRC they've
finally moved to an OHC design.

I'm aware of the details of the engines, thanks, I wrote some articles about
it a few years ago. All I was saying is that "they've finally moved" really
means that Ford made the change five years ago. Meh.

That's what it *looks* like from a block perspective. As I'm sure you know
from your vast knowledge of Ford engines g the RoCam head is rather
different.

Only about 10 years after everyone else then.

Just the 10?

The oldest car I've owned was built in the late 70s, designed in the
early 60s and never had anything other than a twin-cam fitted.

The only car we've had with pushrods was a MkII Fester.

Take away costs and for the Ka design it really didn't matter if it had the
existing 1.3 Endura-E, the 1.0 RoCam turbo, or whatever. Ford happened to
have production capacity with the Endura-E, which of course costs around £17
to manufacture in bulk. Need. Supply. Job done.

It isn't rocket science. The majority of drivers don't understand nor give
a gnat's butt if their car uses a DOHC variable valve, two stage induction
donk, or just has "an engine." You can add "vast" before "majority" if
we're discussing the Ka.
