What payment options are available for paying VAT on arriving back with an
imported vehicle? Credit cards, debit cards, or just cheques?

No claims query by
Broadback
I hope this is not OT. For the last 7 years I have driven on my wife's
insurance as "spouse", however the time has come to think of having the
insurance in my name. Prior to retiring 9 years ago I had a company car,
on retiring I bought my company car and had insurance on that with a no
claims bonus on the back of my company car driving. I then replaced my
car with a motor home, which was...

Aux input on Fusion radio by
Bob Smith
I've been asked where the AUX input to the radio installed in a Ford Fusion
is. The book shows a picture of it, but gives no clue as to where it is.
Anyone help?

Why we are loosing the war on Muslims. by
Lord Turkey Cough
Two attacks in two days and where were the rozzers???
Well, I will tell you where they were, they were out with their speed guns,
catching innocent non-terrorist motorists like me doing 33 mph on a 30 mph
zone.
Why aren't you out catching Muslims I asked?
"Because the Sarge says there's no money in it.". He replied.
I won't tell you what my reaction to that was but needless to say I did
spent...

quietest day to travel on M3 - Thu/Fri/Sat? by
jgkgolf@hotmail.com
Sorry , slightly off topic I know.
I'm going from London to the New Forest the end of next week on the M3
& M27 with a full carload including doddery mother in law and young
baby and want to avoid getting stuck in any big jams.
Which of the days Thu/Fri/Sat should be the quietest?
Leaving about 9am ish, returning after 6pm.
Thanks

The message

You can drop the battery onto it and smash it....
There speaks a bitter man!
You can draw lots of pencil lines on it reputedly and it will not work.

I know you can pretty much do what you want with the back side windows
but what about the rest of the car?
For instance, the rear window, the two front side windows and the
windscreen ???

I must move to a less pikey area by
R D S
The other night 'we' needed to pick something up after work so left in her
car.
Upon getting home I couldn't be arsed going to get the car to bring it home
so left it there (small industrial park).
Got to work the next morning and some ****(s) have bashed hell out of my
door lock and knocked the handled out of shape.
I should have known really, at leat they didn't get in it.

Topspeed 342 mph or 550 km/h at 55% throttle, 120 mph to 180 mph in 6 seconds. Must one say more? by
Bobby
Topspeed 342 mph or 550 km/h at 55% throttle, 120 mph to 180 mph in 6
seconds. Must one say more? May be just one thing: At 110 mph not a
third of the carbon dioxide of a Toyota Corolla Diesel. It is high
time to change perception. Be prepared for fundamental changes of
mobility paradigms. Be prepared for the Acabion.

Bought wheel bolts and one has snapped. by
R D S
To the local tyre guy's horror the head snapped off one of the 16 wheel
bolts I bought while the wheels were being fitted to the car.
Are there good and bad ones? I went to 2 places (1st place only had 8) and
they stocked the same brand so it's not as if I could have bought better
ones.
Needless to say this is a concern to me, should I return them (unlikely i'll
get a refund without a fight...

The only one that seems to work is the "Toad". All the others are
flawed, the Halfords ones especially so. Sadly I can't find the Toad SWL
on the web.

In-car USB stick player thing by
Mungo \Two Sheds\ Toadfoot
Do they exist yet? Just a USB socket on the front of an amplifier with an
LCD screen in a car radio-sized metal box? I'm not up on ICE but I did have
a quick look on Halford's website; they only had CD players etc. I'm
thinking something as basic as this should be cheap as proverbials and I
could make the car considerably lighter by removing all the CDs from it and
just carrying a 4Gb USB...

Alloy wheels - not fitting properly by
R D S
I have fitted some alloys to the GF's car and under load there is some
rubbing on the wheel arch lining on the rear.
I need some spacers, there are universal ones cheap enough, has anyone got
experience of these, if they aren't on perfectly central are there wobble
issues?
The car specific are much more expensive, are they much better?
For irony lovers, I bought 16 wheel bolts as the...

To LPG or not... by
DrLargePants
Hi,
Looks like my mileage may go up to 40k a year soon, so I've been
looking at LPG conversions.
I own a 1.8 20VT Octavia VRS, which does about 30 mpg (on supper UL),
so I'd be looking at say ~£6700 a year in fuel (assuming £5 a
gallon). With LPG (assuming 25 mpg, and £2 a gallon), I'd be looking
at £3200, a saving of £3500 a year.
