getting insurance quote- do I have to mention accident if no claim made? by jgkgolf@hotmail.com
I'm getting insurance quotes (online) at the moment and not sure whether I need to mention an accident I had 2 years ago. Driving down a very narrow street at 2mph, I barely 'touched' another car with my wing mirror but it left a black mark. The owner who was in the car got out and demanded my insurance details which I gave him. I then notified my insurance company expecting a claim but none was...

What car? by Matt
I've been driving a mk4 golf bog standard 1.6 which is not a very fun ride or a individual car. Although its very very reliable, not one breakdown in 4 years, one broken window regulator clip and a new brake light switch needed all common problems. But I think its time for a new batmobile as I'm kind of bored to be honest of it and everyone and their granny has a golf. I'm after some...

DIY window tint film by andy
Has anybody tried the diy window tint films that you can get off ebay? Most are £15 or less, and I was wondering whether they're any good.

Car story 1911 style by Mungo \Two Sheds\ Toadfoot
I bought a copy of a 1911 Thanet Times recently and found a report of a car accident in it. Thought you lot might be interested to see it. I just took some quick photos of a few bits of the paper and flung them on my site using a laptop so if the pictures are tiny on your 24" widescreen lcd monitor... tough :o) http://www.arcl40.dsl.pipex.com/thanet/index.html Oh, and this is the area it...

Deciphering VINs by Chris
I've tried to find a site that describes the composition of a VIN, but in vain. Does it contain information such as whether it's LHD/RHD? Does it change with minor spec changes to the same mode? -- DT

Micra radio code by Mungo \Two Sheds\ Toadfoot
Chaps. Does anyone know if it's possible to get a working Blaupunkt radio/cassette in a 1994 Micra K11 to reveal its code? We haven't got the code but I want to move it to another car. It just says it's a code protected Blaupunkt on the front, and has Nissan printed on it. Si

Dual Circuit Braking systems by Richard Polhill
I've been puzzling over this for some time. Most cars have dual circuit brakes with two pistons in the master cylinder and, typically, diagonal pairs of brakes on each circuit. The idea being should one circuit fail and lose fluid, the other circuit will still allow you to stop the car safely. So far so hoopy. When I'm bleeding my brakes, I release the bleed nipple on one brake slave...

UK Number Plates by Alan
Polish friend asked me why UK cars have white number plates at the front and yellow at the rear? So you can tell the back or the front at a distance I said unconvincingly. She was not convinced. So what advantage does having two colours have? Any thoughts?
