Top Ten Starting Battery Tips
1. Wear glasses when working with a battery, because it might
explode.

and the top clean. The plates must be covered at all times.
3. To prevent permanent sulfation when not in use and especially in
hot weather, keep your battery continuously connected to a "smart" or

Back to Black by

This product is amazing - however, I find that the aerosol is messy - if
trying to do areas near windows it ends up getting on the glass.
I am intrigued as to the principles of this product and does using it have a
beneficial or long term detrimental effect.
Are there any non aerosol alternatives?

Looks and drives superb by
Mad Max
I'm thinking of changing my car at the moment, so I'm doing the usual
trogging through autotrader, etc.
Is it just me, or do the words "looks and drive superb" just stop you in
your tracks and move you straight to the next advert?

many many years ago my grandfather was taking his driving test in his dads
works van ( he was a baker ). The instructor asked for an emergency stop,
which was duly carried out, the only problem being the bag of flour behind
the instructor fell off and covered him in flour... still got a pass though!

Car Question: follow up by
ESOJAY
I'd like to thank all those who posted helpful comments regarding my
question.
I had the car serviced today. It cost £170.00 (parts + labour + VAT) for a
full service. The repairers reckon it was mainly the spark plugs that needed
changing, they also put in some fuel cleaner and changed some other bits--
oil and air filters, wipers etc.
However, I am still not fully satisfied as the car cut-out...

MOt wishbones on mondeo Big OT by
Ticker
I do notice a lot of Mondeos failing on split wishbone bushes
It does appear from looking at most wishbones that MOT Testers are well out
of order on failing them as a split in the bush is not a reason for failure
If you look at he testers manual it states below , Failure of the bonding
between flexible element and the
metal so that part of unit is likely to become displaced. so I would think...

Starting from hot by

I'm having an intermittent problem starting up my Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6

journey I have real problems firing her up again (but once running
everything is fine).
The ignition system seems fine but the engine just refuses to fire, it
normally does eventually (after 20 minutes or so).
I've been advised on a few...

Alloys by
Mr John X
Now that the asbestos has been taken out of brake pads, the black material
they now produce really messes up your wheels. anyone recommend a product
that will remove it completely without too much elbow grease. I say this
because of such intricate nooks and crannies on many wheels makes em
difficult to keep clean just by scrubbing.

petrol disappears ! by
Tim
After my pinto /weber carb'd Hawke has been standing for a few days, it
takes an age to start up due to petrol having presumably drained back into
the lines / tank.
I know this is a reasonably common prob, but have not found an easy,
relatively cheap solution. I have one of those plastic in-line filters near
the carb, and it appears almost or completely empty after a week or so. All
fuel lines...
