Do any of you use bio-diesel? by
T_Raymond
My car is a Peugeot 406 Diesel' 96, and I have not yet gone down the
route of veg oil, however I noticed this place fairly local to my work
place and was curious to perhaps give it a go. Has anybody else used
anywhere similar?
http://www.purefuels.co.uk/
Currently the web site states at £109.9, which would equate to about
£30 saving a month for me.

Vectra remote locking problem by
Tony Houghton[_2_]
My sister has an '04 Vauxhall Vectra. The remote fob wasn't working and
she's been unlocking it by turning the key in the door then inserting it
into the ignition to turn the alarm off.
I replaced the battery in the key fob. Now the unlock button works but
pressing the lock button just makes the indicators flash without locking
the doors. I read on some forums that if the fob loses power for...

Seymour Bush/Steve Firth by
conor
I have a burning desire to vent my spleen on Mr. Steven Firth. I will
start this discussion by arguing that Firth looks down with a really
limitless condescension on anyone who has not been dragged through the
obligatory schools and had the necessary knowledge pumped into him.
Then, I will present evidence that he who passively accepts evil is as
much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate...

new car? by
Gavin[_2_]
Had my trusty old tank (1995 diesel escort) 8 years now although she's
starting to show her age (rust on sills) although engine etc all ok, MOT due
next month. Normally needs the odd job to get her through, though nothing to
much.
I do all the small jobs (oil changes/ brakes boots etc ) and leave anything
engine wise to the garages.
I'm thinking about changing her for something newer, will be 3...

Junior Driving Courses by
Sla#s[_2_]
There was an advert for 'Junior Driving Courses' on the radio and the
general opinion was; "The Neds will just love that... " ... "What a stupid
idea to teach underaged kids how to become joy riders."
I said that I believed the evidence was that this was more likely to
prevented crime, like joy riding, it also lessened bad driving when they
were old enough to get a licence.
BUT - I can't...

Audi A2 by
R D S[_2_]
After much used car based deliberation I am warming towards a 5 year old
Audi A2, 1.4 Diesel SE.
I'm not looking for earth shattering performance and I rarely undertake long
journeys.
I need something reliable, economic, reasonably nippy, moderately
respectacle and not too small.
Any opinions?

Is "seymore butts" a Firth sock? by

questions re. car insurance for "social, domestic & pleasure" use by
John Nagelson
Hi, I know a car insurance policy that's only for "social, domestic &
pleasure" use doesn't cover driving to work, whether regularly
("commuting") or even as a one-off.
Does it usually cover:
* driving a family member to work?
* driving a family member to university, where they are a student?
* driving oneself to university, where one is a student?

Sainsbury's unlawfully threatening to "fine" people? by
hanrahan398@yahoo.co.uk
Well this is a step on from car park management companies issuing
unenforceable "parking charge notices" made to look like "penalty
charge notices".
Today when I went into a local Sainsbury's, they had a lot of leaflets
by the checkout threatening to "fine" people £50 if they park in
"parent and child spaces" when unaccompanied by a child under the age
of 12.
Their slogan is: "Fine if you...

'Miracle' that no car drivers were hurt as a lorry crashes andoverturns on M6 by
conor
the amazing scene after an out-of-control lorry hurtled off a bridge
and smashed onto the M6 below.
Amazingly, no-one other than the lorry driver was hurt when his
articulated truck plunged down onto the motorway’s southbound
carriageway yesterday.
It overturned on impact and came to rest straddling the hard shoulder
and two lanes of the carriageway at junction two, near Coventry. The
sight was...

Which car guide and petrol/diesel engines by
john hamilton[_3_]
Thinking about buying an older second hand car I was looking through an old
'Which car guide 2005/2006' and got to wondering why under the heading of
*driving experience* cars with a diesel engine is always getting a higher
rating than the petrol model. (ie a red star as opposed to a circle rating)
I contacted Which quite some time and asked them, but never got a response.
Having never owned...

Daihatsu Charade 05 by
Bill[_8_]
Hello. I've been looking for an economical car as a runabout with the
occasional motorway journey and have seen one of these. The reviews
are so good. Even Clarkson thought it was a good car.
I was just wondering what people on here thought about them.
Thanks a lot.

Renault DCI service light by
R D S[_2_]
I've just had a look at at Renault Laguna 1.9DCi 2007.
There was a spanner lit up on the dash and a text warning that the oil
service was due.
The last service by Renault was 4000 miles and 5 months ago so this is a
mild concern.
Does this warning come up merely down to timed inteval or is there some
other reason (like engine management sensors) that may cause it.
I find it hard to believe...

A sad sight... by
Tim Downie[_3_]
I was driving along this morning when I spotted a car comming towards me
suddenly start spewing clouds of blue-white smoke. As it neared, I realised
it was an NSU RO80. Judging from the odd whining noise it made as it past
me, it still had a rotary engine.
It's amazing how such an old car can still look...

Another numpty lorry driver by
T_Raymond
Driving along a country road to work this morning, I was stunned to
see another lorry driver down a road that was not suited to lorries at
all, obviously just looking at where his sat-nav was telling him was
the shortest route.
This road is obviously never regularly used by HGV's because he was
actually hitting the branches of the trees as he was driving along,
raining clumps of leaves...

Peugeot 406 1996 1.9TD climate control by
T_Raymond
Has anybody found with these that the climate control takes a while
from when you start the key to actually cooling quickly or heating?
For example, outside temperature 25 degrees climate set at 21 degrees,
you start the engine and get cool air, but only very slowly, it takes
until the car reaches 70 on the temp guage before it goes "Oh right
it's actually quite hot!" and kicks in the air con...
