Valuation of a 30 plus year old car for sale by
goodolpete[_2_]
Sitting in a garage is an old V reg Viva. The owner
put in a new engine after 10 years, but was then
unable to drive, so it's been in the garage since then.
Is there a site or anywhere that would offer a valuation
of the car? Is it worth anything?
TIA,
Pete

Is this radiator grille from an old Riley, or Wolseley? by

If it's not a Riley or Wolseley, can anyone identify it? Thanks!
The original builder / racer of this car has been in touch, and
confirms that the bonnet and grille were from a 1937...

What car? by
Keith[_2_]
Hi All,
Thinking about a new car.
Requirements:
- 10K max budget.
- Needs to accomodate 2 adults + 2 kids (but being able to do 4 adults
and 2 kids would be a great bonus....but only a bonus, not a
neccessity). Multipla / Zafira type vehicle would be acceptable. Looks

I'm having trouble removing the wiper blades from the spline (after removing
the retaining nut) and reluctant to just lever them off.
Can anyone give me some advice please

I will put a post up here soon with details of the truck just in case
anyones interested on here (it only has one grumpy owner from new) Is
there much calls for private truck sales on these newsgroups?
p.s what are everbodys thoughts on stuff like whey...

Jeep 2011 models by
Gareth[_2_]
Planning ahead for some test drives in the new year...
Anyone know exactly when the Jeep Patriot & Wrangler 2011 models go on
sale in the UK? The Jeep website has "Introducing" pages for both, but
then the actual model pages, e-brochures etc all still refer to the 2010
models.
I know I could phone the local dealer, but I'm trying to exhaust my "the
internet knows everything" theory...

Chop Shop. Quest TV. by
Mike G[_3_]
Does anyone think as I do, that fitting 6" wheel spacers to a std car is
simply asking for trouble.
The hubs, bearings, and stub axles were not designed to cope with the extra
loads from offsetting the wheels so much. Not to mention how it makes the
steering geometry positively dangerous.
The cars might look pretty to some if you like that sort of thing, but
that's all they have going for...

jumpstarter usable off the mains? by
Mary Crewkerne
Hi, can someone tell me whether a car jumpstarter exists that, "out of
the box", can be plugged into the mains and start a car. I.e., that
doesn't need to have its own battery charged up first.
I've looked at ones such as:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/media/pdfs/A56JX_Manual.pdfA56JX_Manual.pdf
and it seems you have to charge it up first. The manual doesn't
mention using it off the mains.

Any of you know where the best place to get a decent VW Fox is? by

I'm surprised how high the secondhand prices are - virtually nothing under
£4k on autotrader. It's almost worth thinking the unthinkable and buying
new!

Scotland yesterday. by
Sla#s[_2_]
All his talk about how Scandinavia copes with worse weather than what
happened in Scotland yesterday is missing the point. All the blockages were
caused not by snow blocking the roads but by lorries not being able to make
it up the slightest little slope and then a giant snarl up followed. That is
what stopped the gritters getting through.
I have snow socks and was able to drive around...

Tomtom Start won't find satellites after software update by
Tim Downie[_3_]
My daughter's Tomtom Start has gone on the blink after a software update. It now no longer finds any satellites (and yes, it has been left for over an hour outside).
We've tried a soft reset via the on screen menu and also a hard reset via the hidden reset button. We've tried re-installing the software updates but that hasn't worked either. There doesn't seem to be any way of "rolling back"...
