Greg Norman/Using Mobile While Driving by
anyhtinguwant@anywhereuwanttogoto
Was reading in a Sunday broadsheet that Greg Norman was let off from a
FPfor using a mobile ( was given a caution) while driving by
fluttering his eyelashes at a female PC and telling her that he wasn't
used to British driving rules .All right for some !!!
Says it took her 40 minutes to fill a form in ..maybe she fancied...

Miniature Jaguar? by
David C[_2_]
Help please.
I've recently seen, (on the M25) a smallish, RHD, 4-door saloon
looking like a small Jag, probably based on the MK 2 styling-wise.
I suspect that this is one of a range of similar "knock-offs" from an
obscure Japanese manufacturer, but I've not been able to find any info
from Google.
Any suggestions as to what it might have been?

Increased Road Tax - Totally Unfair by
Maria[_3_]
I have a 4x4 - I never ever use it in 4wd, and I use it about once
every three months for days out - the rest of the time I walk
everywhere as I live in a town centre. I have to have 7 seats for the
size of my family, and I got it for a reasonable price when other
people-carriers were £5000+. I will still have to pay the extra road
tax to keep it (I have no off-road facility) even though I am a...

LPG conversion - chicken and egg runaround by
John[_15_]
I'm seriously considering getting my car converted to LPG (Nissan Maxima QX
3.0 SE+ Auto) but as it's going to cost the best part of two grand, I want
to be sure of getting a decent system.
The problem is that there are at least a dozen manufacturers, with Prins,
OMVL, Romano, Tartarini and BRC being just a few of them. The LPGA have an
approved installer scheme (which I suppose is like a...

TomTom didn't work in Italy - why not??!! by
Lobster
Just back from holiday in Italy - as we were going to be driving a hire
car a fair bit, I made sure I'd downloaded a new European map for my
TomTom 910. Checked the routes on the device at home before I left so
was pretty confident of being able to rely on it getting us from A to B.
I used the TomTom to drive to the airport in the UK, and later set it up
in our hire car in Italy (a Fiat Bravo). ...

About 4 weeks ago I swapped my camper van for a car.
Had a phone call today saying the camper van was a ringer.
He was having some work done on it and the mechanic noticed weld around
the VIN plate on the side door well and that the VIN plate in the engine
area was pop riveted on.

Good online journey planner? by
Mungo \Two Sheds\ Toadfoot
If a chap was to consider planning a complete tour of England, Wales &
Scotland around the coastline, finishing where he started, would there be an
online resource which would enable him to calculate, reasonably accurately,
distances, times, which would also come up with good places to visit along
the way, sort of thingy?

8 grand - what would _you_ buy? by
Marlon
Hi all,
took my '93 BMW 530i lump for a service yesterday, to find out too
many bits are dropping off & it's now beyond economical repair (quoted
around £1200 to put it all right on a car that would be worth c £600
when right - I inspected the issues, and agree that they're BIG issues).
So..... this being the rainy day I've clearly been saving for I
now have a budget of £8k for a...

Most comfy? by
Mungo \Two Sheds\ Toadfoot
Out of the millions of cheap secondhand cars available, say for less than
£1000, which have the best, comfiest, pothole absorbing suspension? Here in
East Kent the roads are akin to those in Afghanistan.
Actually, as you can buy a Lexus LS400 for less than £1000 now, we'll factor
in decent economy and low tax too, so sub-1400cc (is it 1400cc still?).
There's a challenge.

The audi channel by
Krustov
Was having a look through the channels on (sky freesat) and seen the
audi channel is available on channel 884 .
FYI: sky freesat is much the same as a freeview box as its a one off
payment with no monthly subscription .
Would audi nutters pay the £150 just to get the audi channel ? .

Is this true? by
goodolpete
From the Daily Torygraph.....
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/main.jhtml?xml=/motoring/2008/06/14/mfcheaperdriving114.xml
Drive like Dan Dare. Treat your car like a spaceship. As soon as you
can, accelerate smoothly and gently up to a safe, appropriate (and
legal) speed and select as high a gear as possible, keeping the revs
down to minimise fuel use without labouring the engine. Between...

Car Insurers and recommended repairers by
paulfoel
I've had loads of hassle off my current insurer (swiftcover) because
they want me to use their recommended repairer for repairs to my car.
Basically, the nearest recommended repairer was 40+ miles away (in
fact, in a different country!!!) so I told them to get stuffed and
found a local one.
Since then they've tried all sorts to get me to change my mind.
They've been deliberately obstructive in...
