in a Marina when I was 17.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/north_west/7471102.stm [...] S70 saloon. The court heard how an adult male and a boy were sitting in the passenger seat. In the back there were two women with infants on their laps, the other six passengers, all young children were either sitting or standing in the centre section of the back seat. |

Back in 1981 we managed 9 - admittedly mostly kids - in a 2CV.. from Bacup Carnival to home, about 3/4 mile Mike P |

I had about 12 adults once, in a peogot 505 estate (3 rows of seats, designed for 7). We were looking for a free party at the site of the newbury bypass protests, the police stopped me, everyone bundled out and went looking for the party and the police breathalised me. By the time the police had breathalized me everyone else had worked out the party had been stopped, so everyone got into the car again in front of the police and we drove of. Nothing about the number of people was mentioned. To this day I am amazed, esp. after this story. |

I managed 8 in my Renault 5 once (all adults, if you can call 17 year olds that). But the clutch slipped after a few hundred metres, so I had to kick some of them out. One night at uni I think we got 11 people in a Nova, but that was only on the driveway. Got a picture somewhere. |

We did 9 in a Metro when I was 17 or 18, coming back from a club in Middlesbrough: 1 in driver's seat 1 in passenger seat 1 in passenger footwell 3 in back seat 1 laid across laps of those in the back seat 2 in boot facing each other (me being one of them) I remember one time being ferried home from a party in the boot of a Cavalier saloon. That was a bit tricky as there was no way to see what was coming, so I got thrown around a bit lol -- Abo |

When I were an apprentice there were two car share groups going for the 20 mile drive to work. When one of the cars was dead we all packed into the other one - 6 or 7 of us. I remember the first time it happened I ended up in the back, then a tasty young lady apprentice had to sit sideways across all our laps. Woohoo. Turns out even slender young things get really really heavy after a few miles :-( |
