Had the first one for ages the other day - which scrapped the tyre as it
was just above the shoulder on the side wall. No idea what caused it as it was on the inside of the tyre. It went down very rapidly. The tyres were all near new too. I'd bought them mail order and got five - but not used the 5th one as the spare is perfect. So took the wheel and the new tyre to my local place for fitting/ balancing and they charged me 20 quid plus VAT. Is this the normal price these days? -- *Never test the depth of the water with both feet.* Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

The same as I paid a couple of months ago to have a tyre reseated to cure a slow puncture, but they did have to remove and refit the wheel. Mike. |

Last time this happened to me was on the SD1 - the wheels needed refurbishing which has since been done. And KwikFit did it and said 'just give the lad a drink' But the local branch was choka when I went to get this puncture fixed so I use an independant. -- *No I haven't stolen it , I'm just a **** driver* Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

I usually buy tyres from mytyres.net and get them fitted/balanced with a new valve for £12 each at our local tyre fitter. Kwik-fit will do them cheaper if I catch the right man at the right time - a fiver a piece (cash only wink wink). Mike P |

I got tyres refitted to alloys that had been refurbed at a cost of £6 or £8 each. Add in another £5 for disposal and you're still only up to £15 or so. But then you are in London. |

I had a leek round one of my valves (funky pressure monitoring ones), took the wheel off stripped off the tyre, removed the valve and had a good look (not one they had seen before) put the lot back together and charged £6. |

Must say it seemed a bit steep to me, but the place is convenient, being only about a quarter of a mile away from my workplace. The next nearest place is about 3 miles away. I certainly wouldn't buy tyres from them. I can save £40-50 a tyre by going to Micheldever. Mike. |
