Default Stop oil leak with additive , dose it work ??

Do the oil additives stop oil leaks ?

not the ones that thicken the oil. but the one that are supposed to
'swell' the seals ?

if so , any ideas on a 'good' one ?

No, it's as bad as products containing PTFE claiming to help the engine.
They're all rubbish.

Depends if you're planning on selling the car within the next few weeks
or not.

Stop Smoke and one of the cans of leak reducing stuff got me a good
price on my MkIV Escort a few years back.... (that, and the nice thick
layer of underseal on the sills)

Never buy non Italian stuff from me.

I look after my Italian cars, I don't give a toss about any other banger
I may pick up to run about in.

I used the Wynne's gearbox one for a small leak from the change
lever on the auto box of my SD1 over 10 years ago, and it has
never leaked since. In that case it did work, so I wouldn't
dismiss them out of hand.

It's the swell type I used. The change lever on the g/box is
sealed by an 'O' ring. Presumably it swelled the ring enough to
stop the leak.
I imagine it would work just as well for some seals in an engine,
but whether it would be as effective for all seal failures is
doubtful IMO.
Mike.
