Do the oil additives stop oil leaks ?
not the ones that thicken the oil. but the one that are supposed to 'swell' the seals ? if so , any ideas on a 'good' one ? tnx - G .. |

I used the Wynne's gearbox one for a small leak from the change lever on the auto box of my SD1 over 10 years ago, and it has never leaked since. In that case it did work, so I wouldn't dismiss them out of hand. Mike. |

The change lever on the g/box is sealed by an 'O' ring. Presumably it swelled the ring enough to stop the leak. I imagine it would work just as well for some seals in an engine, but whether it would be as effective for all seal failures is doubtful IMO. Mike. |
