How to use a tachometer by

Hi all,
having just swapped an automatic for a manual, I now have gears and
a tachometer as controllable variables in my driving.
So it occured to me that I've never really done that bloke thing of
knowing about rev ranges, when "best" to change gear (other than when it
feels "right"), and such like.
So.... for instance, given there's an obvious upper range to be

As it seems traditional here if you have a courtesy car:
Basic Fox, 1.2, 55bhp, 80ft/lb.
It's not quick. By a good margin. It will go fast enough to get you
nicked on the motorway if the copper is feeling unhappy, but there's a
fair old load of mechanical thrash. As there is is you try to accelerate
any faster than 'in a leisurely manner'. Lets face it though, it's a
1.2L 3-cyl shopping...

BMW satnav and voice control by

I bought a 335d coupe back in late Jan and whilst the car is great to
drive, I find the sat nav and the associated voice input control/
feedback dreadful. In my previous motors (without satnav) I have used
a TomTom, which I love; I would have thought that TomTom would be used
as a benchmark by just about every other sat nav designer. Clearly not

Van hire co. falsely claiming I returned van with damage Options(part 2) by

I started this in another thread but just wanted to ask another
question.
When I hired the van I signed a rental agreement for van A. However
when i saw van A I realised it wouldn't be big enough so they gave me

About 4 weeks ago I bought a secondhand Nissan QX and stupidly I've only
just realised that it has locking wheel nuts but there's no "key" socket for
them. Assuming that they're factory fitted (because they look *exactly* like

Alarm question. by

Last week, and again last night at 3am the alarm went off for no
apparent reason. Last night I simply reset it, and it's been OK
since.
As it was hot yesterday, the car was parked for most of the day

Tyre sealant stuff - which one? by

I've just had my car converted to dual fuel and now have a 67-litre LPG tank
in the spare wheel well instead of a spare wheel, so can anyone recommend a
good tyre sealant?
Each of the tyres is in really good condition with between 6 and 7mm tread
depth and the rims are alloys - just in case that makes any difference.
