Peugeot 205 - Clutch/Gearbox by [email protected]
I've a Peugeot 205 (1.4, 1988, 93K) and recently I've had problems selecting the gears. Its now so bad that the car is not driveable. If I do manage to bang it into gear, the drive is very rough and is accompanied by a loud whining noise. I'm pretty sure either the clutch or gearbox (or both) are about to expire. The car's only worth about £300 (if working), so does anyone know roughly how much...

94 (L) Corsa Stalling & Wont Restart by Mark Craft
1.2, pretty sure its a single point injection car starts and runs fine, however when it gets to 90 deg on the gauge it will stutter and die, it doesn't restart straight away, somewhere between 5 and 15mins. It then restarts and will run as normal.. Note that it doesn't always fail like this, some trips can be undertaken with no problems whatsoever, we've even got it warm, past 100deg and its...

Supermarket Fuel Versus BP, Esso Ect Pro's & Cons by arctree
Hi Being un-enlightened on this subject I wonder what the difference if any between the two are. I live near Avonmouth with its huge fuel refinery and witness Tesco Tankers leaving regularly. Is this the same source for lets say BP fuel? I guess differences if any are in the refining process. What are the

Auto Parts Catalog on CD/DVD by LarryOwens
I'm trying to develop a Auto parts catalog on CD/DVD for auto repair shops. The hardest part so far is finding raw data files of car parts complete with pictures (jpg, tif, gif, etc). The development part is easy since I develop these types of applications for an alumni directory company all the time. The catalog would allow the user to easily look up a parts then submit an electronic order.

Can you identify this belt? (96 Honda Accord) by Al Reynolds
"Al Reynolds" wrote: I wonder if someone could help me out? I need to identify the belt indicated with the arrow in the image: http://www.bat400.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/engine.gif It must be the power steering belt. Having had a closer look at the silver lump to the left, I can see that there is a hose coming from the power steering fluid reservoir into the block which then...

testing idle stepper motors by Tim..
"Marty1a" wrote in message ... Is there any way to test these? (Idle Stepper Motors)? Fairly sure the SPi pug uses a 4 pin S/M. In which case 2 pins drive the motor forward and backward with 12v applied one way then the other, and the other 2 are for the idle switch. viz: pin1: motor

Cavalier high idle speed problem by DervBoy
Hi all Recently bought an old mk3 cav with 1.6 carb (16SV engine) as a winter hack as it was going cheap and had lots of MOT. I am however slightly puzzled by the idle speed. It will remain high for some time even after the choke has gone off. I can see this because the choke plate is fully open. It eventually drops to normal, but if I stop the engine and restart it a few minutes later it will...

Cigarette lighter not working. by Sonars UK
Hi, I've got a '96 Mitsubishi Gallant V6 24V (UK spec). I plugged a cheap car hoover into the cigarette lighter last week and it stopped working. The fuse for the lighter looked OK but I changed it anyway - with no luck. I then put the fuse for the cigarette lighter in the window wiper position

A few weeks later, the nearside one did the same thing. Has anyone else experienced anyhting like this? I am not very mechanically minded, but would like to 'root cause' this...
