How about this one? I'm actually quite tempted myself, I quite fancy
something a bit retro in decent nick. Probably going to go for about £400,
but you can guarantee it'd be easier to sell on than a tatty Mk3 Fester,
especially in that condition + with that sort of history and mileage.

Rightio. Kermit's exhaust is blowing from the back box section, so I've
just sourced a replacement. Okay, okay, so it's a Janspeed box, but
beggars
can't be fussy, we're broke and the deal was favourable.
The chap I collected the box off reports that it may need an adapter or

Flat battery/2 cheap tyres needed in East London by
Graeme London
Hi,
I'm trying to resurrect a Peugeot 405 for a (damsel in distress) friend
who's desperately short of dosh but badly needs the car for personal
reasons. I haven't worked under the bonnet since my teens, so am a bit
rusty!
Had to get the car towed to my garage yesterday as the battery was
completely flat & wouldn't take a charge.

Dodgy Williams? by

sounds like it's been fixed after a prang
first up, did you get a hpi check?
they might be sympathetic to your cause if it's been a write off in the
past, but if it's not been recorded then I don't think you have a leg to
stand on
private seller or trader?
private and you have been stitched up to the nines matey
you did of course check to see if the seller was the official owner didn't

Extended Warrantys by
Tony
Hi
When I bought my S/H Citroen Xantia it came with a 12 months warranty.
At the end of the 12 months I was able to renewed it. Those 12 months
have now passed and since my car has done over 50,000 miles I am
unable to renew it as the company Citroen use will not cover cars that
are 5 years old or have covered more than 50,000 miles. Has anybody
had any experience good or bad with a 3rd part car...

leads seem to have no spark to show up on the timing light.

Heater is luke warm on Peugeot 306 by
Neil D
The car is a 1996 306 D Turbo
I noticed today is that the heat from the centre dashboard vents is hot,
whereas the heat from the side vents, windscreen and footwell is luke warm,
bordering on cold.
As it's my wife's car, I don't drive is that often. Last winter, I was
driving and thought the heater wasn't very warm. The next day, I changed the
thermostat, it still wasn't much better. Then I...

It won't do any harm, but I can't think of much benefit either.

passat problems. Am I just plain unlucky? by
David Cawkwell
Personally I consider this unacceptable of a car.
In my mind I shouldn't expect any component failures
in the first 100k and my proton proves it. 140k without
a single failure. Before that I had a fiesta (mk3) and I think the
only failure I had with that was an alternator within the first 100k
(then the troubles began but that's another story)
If you get these sort of failures it's time to...

engine flush by
Matthew H Williams
Does anyone know how the addition of "wynns" engine flush prior
to an oil change effects the characteristics of the old engine
oil?
Is the purpose of engine flush to make the old oil thinner so
that it can drain more easily? What are the other advantages?
Thanks once again for your comments.
