Side indicator lights by Rednadnerb
Dear Sirs What is the proper term for the 'side indicator lights' that are on the side panels or doors of cars? I want to buy one but don't know what to call it. Thanks Brendan.

Cheap Citroen spare parts by Rednadnerb
Hi all I am about to start scouring the web, ebay etc. but someone could save me a lot of time by telling me if there is a cheap supplier of Citroen parts. For a Citroen C3 I need: The glass for a door mirror with the backing pad/plate. A cover for the indicator that goes on the side of the car (don't know the proper name for this).

Did U see Z4 megafactories by mr p
There was a great program on National Geographic last night, It showed the entire production process of a BMW Z4, worth looking out for if you're interested in cars ;-) Pitty that a lot of the workers in the film will have been laid off by now I would think ? Simon

Antifreeze question by No Name
I have a 1998 Nissan Primera (petrol 2.0) - is it ok to use the newer 'OAT' type red coloured antifreeze in this car? Can you mix this with the older type?

New facelifted Ford focus 1.8 tdci 115hp, oil and reviews by mfrank@net.hr
Hi! I am an owner of new Ford focus and I have some questions: - what engine oil do you use? My car was delivered with semi synthetic but I would rather switch to full synthetic because of turbo and hydraulic driven valves. Do you think that is necessary and what are your suggestions? - in second gear I have a problem with vibrations within 1200-1800rpm. It feels like some unbalanced mass, not a...

Escort - stalls when cold by Linker3000
Hi Folks, I have an R-Reg Escort with a 16V 1.6 Zetec engine. The car runs great except for the first 2-odd mins when it will stall at junctions or if slowed to a halt - although it will idle with no problems. Once 'warmed up' though it's fine. Can't say I've dabbled with cars since I had a Capri in the 1980s, but my limited (and old) knowledge says 'automatic choke' but I'd appreciate...

Astra Mk3 Idle Speed Control Valve sorted by Gareth Magennis[_2_]
Finally got off my arse and bought a can of carb cleaner. Took off the valve to find I'd done a crap job of cleaning it the first time round. The plunger had a black coating which I had to use very fine emery paper to get off, but now is all nice and shiny. I sprayed carb cleaner into the valve and later put some oil on the shaft as has been suggested by various people here. I also gave...

..oh, then there's the rear view mirror by Linker3000
The rear view mirror fell off the Escort other day. I can recall re-glueing it several years ago but have no idea what I used. I had a look in Halfords today and there is a glue kit for mirrors - it comes with a small tube of adhesive and a 'special pad', but on the back it says not suitable for Fords (and a couple of other makes). The only other option I looked at was 90-second epoxy. The...

MkIII Belmont petrol filler cap (and Ins q). by T i m
Hi All, The Mrs (she who mildly pranged the 93 Astra a month ago and we have since learned wrote off both cars) has just phoned to say has tripped in the petrol station and sheared the plastic petrol filler cap off .... sigh Now on that it's the only lockable bit to the filling system so we would either need to get a new / another door, me repair this one or get a locking filler cap.

Quality of roadside recovery services by nadine
I've been looking through MoneySavingExpert and moneysupermarket.com for cheap breakdown and recovery cover for my 1997 Ford Probe. I don't do many miles but I drive 200 motorway miles round trip every few months to see my friend. So I need the "carry your car to destination" most of all. I get good prices for the following providers but I've got no idea what their reputation is. Is...

Ford Escort Alarm Problem by edmund.greaves@gmail.com
Hi everyone, I own a 1995 Ford Escort with a serious alarm problem. Recently my key stopped working on my driver side door so I went out and got another, this worked for about a week and then would not unlock the door anymore (only lock it). Recently I went to Ford and got a driver side door lock barrel kit and fitted it all together perfectly and put it in the car. Using the driver side door I...

Neighbours oil change by Maxi[_2_]
Sodding neighbour just changed the oil in his car and thought it would be a good idea to chuck the used oil in the communal bin! Was an amusing 1.30 watching his confused trying to do a simple job. Although these days I pay trhe garage to do te dirty work, as I can't be bothered with the hassle of doing oil changes. Works out only £2 more having it done at a garage for me which is great.

OT: Advice on buying young High Mileage Mondeo by MattF[_2_]
Hello All We need a new car and at the local Ford Dealers we saw a June 2006 Mondeo Edge 2.0 Petrol for £5995, it has a full service history - problem is that it has racked up over 42000 miles in a little over a year. The dealers computer showed that they aquired the vehicle in September last year (although he tried to imply that that was a typo) so its been on their books over a year...

The LibLabCon one party in a choice of Blue, Red or Yellow shows it's true colours. http://www.bnp.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/skin11final.jpg Illegal immigrants who have been living in the UK for seven years should be offered an amnesty which allows them to register as residents, pay taxes and earn citizenship, according to one of the Conservative Party's senior strategists. Novice questions by Theo Markettos
I have a few really basic questions... I have a generic set of axle stands (from Screwfix) and a generic trolley jack (from Aldi). But when I jack up my old banger there isn't enough clearance to get the stands in under the chassis supporting points. It needs to go up about another 2 inches. Stands are about 24cm at their lowest extent (without even the peg in the first hole), jack is about...

Alternator belt change - '96 Clio by Chris Dugan[_5_]
Hi folks, Can anyone give me some tips on changing the alternator belt on my '96 Clio? This one has the Alt at the back of the block, partially tucked under the inlet manifold and quite tight to the steel inner wing/wheel arch. What's the easiest way to get access to it and to keep the belt tension setting when re-fitting?
