Lidl Battery Charger by
Mark
I've been waiting for this Lidl battery charger to come up again. Great
little thing and although it's £3 more than the last one I bought I am going
to get another. It's a 3 stage type charger and keeps the battery in my
rarely used car at full charge without overcharging. Once it's reached the
full charge voltage it switches off but trickle charges if voltage falls
below a certain level....

Can I mix CarPlan Premium Red antifreeze with Ford Orange? by
Ivan
Back in the summer my Ford focus had its radiator holed by a small stone and
started to leak, I was going to replace it but it appeared to be such a
nightmare job (in comparison to the ten minutes it took to remove the one in
my old Astra) that I fixed it instead with a recommended substance called
(fixed for life) K-seal, it has to be said that this stuff has performed
brilliantly over a...

Whip aerial fouls on up-and-over garage door by
bruce_phipps@my-deja.com[_2_]
Just bought a car that has a "whip" aerial, mounted on the front
centre of the car roof.
Something like this:
http://www.motocare.co.uk/product.asp?strParents=91,393&CAT_ID=401&P_ID=653
The aerial has no obvious means of adjusting the angle.
So, when I drive in and and out of my garage, the aerial collides with
the up-and-over door. Reversing out is worst.
Someone suggested placing a plastic...

2002 Mondeo central locking fault. by
dovey21
Hi.
i have a problem with my central locking. Basically it will not lock
either remotely or by key, If I get in the car and manually lock all
the doors it will unlock with the key fob. However, when I try locking
the car again I can hear the motors clicking but they do not lock. I
have sprayed WD40 on all locks but that has not helped.
any help or thoughts would be greatly appraciated.

Peugeot Power Steering Issue by
Mark
The power steering on my old faithful Peugeot 405 has decided that it would
like to work when steering to the right intermittently. Steering to the left
there's no problem so I guess it's not the pump.
Searching on the internet seems to point at the valves in the steering
rack/box not letting the oil flow one way efficiently. Does that sound
right? And does anyone think a renew of the power...

Tyre recommendations...? by
PCPaul
It's that time of year again where I notice that (a) my tyres are just
about down to the markers and (b) the roads are more wet than dry.
So.. I need new tyres. Any recommendations for a mid-priced 195/65x15VR
tyre that's good in the wet? For about £50ish a corner?
The Goodyear Hydragrip seems to be getting good press. I've had
Vredestein Hi-Tracs in the past and liked them too. Any others...

BMW 525 tdi.1994 rear subframe bushes how easy!! by
tick
Hi To All
I have a BMW 525 tdi.1994
Which has failed a MOT on rear subframe bushes. Both sides.
The bushes are near the outer sill.
I have found out a special tool is needed for replacement.
Do I stand any chance without the special tool and does the subframe have to
be dropped/removed.
The bushes are the size of a baken bean tin roughly!!!!!!!!
As the tool costs £139 it is not worth me buying...

dead renault megan by
a_tedder@btinternet.com
I have a '96 Renault Megan. My engine is turning over but the car
won't start. Recently replaced leads, distributor cap and rotor arm
and problem went away for a bit. Sprayed with 'damp start'. Started it
yesterday, then flicked wiper switch (turns out they were frozen to
screen) and engine stopped. Everything seems to be working
electrically and battery seems ok but car won't start!
Can anyone...

4-star LRP by
Ian
I have a lawnmower that runs on 4-star LRP. There is now only one
filling station in this area that supplies it, at 168p a liter the other
day!
I'm told that I can use unleaded with a shot of Redex without doing too
much damage to the engine. Is this really true?
Are there different types of Redex? How much is a shot?

lyngroombridge@googlemail.com
My husband is a regular to this group, he suggested that I post this
find..
After trailing through 2/3 car insurance comparison sites, i found
that i
could save £45 on my renewal. After reading an article on the net, i
then
logged into a uk cashback site, they where offing £60 cashback with
LV,
who quoted within £10 of my best offer.
The final saving was Approx £100, best two hours, iv'e spent on...

Peugeot 205 Heater not working by
David Linley
A friend has an H-reg Peugeot 205 1.8 (I think) Diesel.
The heater only blows cold air. It has had a new radiator recently
following a front end collision.
I suggested that the problem might be an airlock in the coolant, so we
filled the expansion tank and then loosened its retaining bolts and tied
it up to the bonnet so that it was above all the other pipes.
We found a bleed screw on the...

Matiz expansion bottle overflowing by
seabreeze
Thought I posted this yesterday but no sign of the post so will try
again. My elderly mother's Matiz has a problem that would seem to be
either head gasket or an airlock somewhere. On checking the oil the
expansion bottle had brown stains around it, and was low on coolant. I
topped it up and drove around for a bit to warm it up. On revving the
engine the coolant began flowing out of the top of...

central locking lights sticking on by
mellybelly
I have a Daewoo Tacuma and the central locking lights are staying on. The
sidelights that flash as you turn remotely lock/unlock it. sometimes it can
take 10 minutes of clicking to get the damn things off. Any ideas as to what
it is?

Loss of coolant - Matiz by
seabreeze
Checked the oil of my elderly mothers Matiz the other day and noticed
brown stains around the expansion bottle and that the fluid was low.
Topped it up, drove for a few miles, got back to check and noticed on
revving the engine the water rose up the bottle and was overflowing.
To me this is a sign that a) corrosion is going on somewhere (I
suspect the mechanic she uses has not topped up with the...
