I was driving a long all doors locked, heard a door open and looked at the passenger from side and the door pin had come up on its own with no one touching it!!! So I stopped got out and locked it with the remote central locking all doors but the passenger side locked. But if I press the lock button again it locks. Which is what I have done and it has stayed closed for about 30 mins now...

E30 power windows wiring by Yvan
I fitted power windows to my '87 E30 from a wrecked car. I followed wiring diagram I have, and now I can only open or close the windows while ignition is on. I added fuse #17, but there is +12V (from the unloader relay K5) only when ignition is ON. Is this how it is suppose to be? It seems wrong that way to me. I should be able to operate windows with the key in first position (when in-dash...

This is the definitive 1A regulator circuit:- http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q309/trakkies/REG-1.jpg It requires a minimum load to function correctly - 20mA or so is fine. -- *The statement above is false Dave Plowman London SW

Silver paint by robgraham[_2_]
Does anyone know of a product which is as good as, or close, to a chrome finish? Most silver paints I've come across are OK for Christmas holly but not for the chrome parts of a car. Plastic wheel trims seem to manage it. Rob Graham

I've got an old Sierra in the garage I've been renovating for a while and its now ready to get an mot slapped on it, but I need insurance to drive to and from the MOT. I don't intend to use the it for a while yet, so wondering if its possible to get it to run for just a month? I've got insurance running for my main car and another policy for my campervan, but do I really have to get another...

DVLA booklets not available online by Paul Phillips
I'm trying to renew my mother's driving licence. She received a form D46PW, which may or may not have come accompanied by a booklet called INF5D. The form states that I must read some pages of it before I fill in the form. But I haven't got the form. (It was either mislaid or wasn't included.) You'd think they'd have it online. But as far as I can see, it isn't. Does anyone happen to know if...

2001 Laguna Estate Headlamp replacement by Tony Brett
Hi, I've got a friend who has a Y reg 2001 Laguna Estate and she says the nearside headlight has water in it and has failed. Renault have quoted her £660 for a replacement headlamp unit and bulb. It's apparently a Xenon HID type headlamp. Can anyone verify if this is correct (i've not seen the car yet) and let me know if there is a cheaper solution to this problem.

Self-levelling suspension by daggo
Hi, does anyone know about self-leveling suspension? - more precisely, Nivomat, and what it's supposed to do? I've asked a couple of dealers, but they seen very vague about it. I've got a 08 Chevrolet (OK, Daewoo) Captiva with SL suspension (I think, 'Nivomat') I've read up on the system and can appreciate how it works - but there are a couple of things I need to know in order to work out...

Escort fuel pump dead by Dave Griffs[_3_]
I have a 1997 1.6 escort. Just tried to start it (engine still warm), turns over but won't fire. No noise from the fuel pump when ignition first turned on, usually primes for a couple of seconds. Unfortunately the RAC only tow once, so couldn't risk being towed home in case I couldn't fix it myself, so had to have it towed to a garage (backstreet, not dealer) Checked fuses & cut off switch,...

Slightly OT 'On the road' question by Pinman
Occasionally on the road I see cameras which are mounted on very tall poles (probably 25' - 30' tall at a guess). Both the pole and camera are painted blue. What are these for? A friend of mine insists they are for recording passing cars to check for road tax evasion. Is he correct? Thanks for any responses.

lidl Car Radio £39.99 by Tony[_6_]
For the money the spec on this looks extremely good, especially the record & remote control facility, it doesn't say anything about the frequency coverage in the description, however the identical looking KH2380 - http://www.mysilvercrest.de/en/artikel.php?a=98 says that it has a 3-band PLL tuner (UKW, MW, LW) along with RDS. I would certainly give it a go for my (51) Ford focus if I...

Ford Focus wiper fault by mr p
I have an intermittent fault whereby the single wipe ( downwards press on stalk ) fails to park the wipers properly . I have to hold the switch down and release it when the wiper is off the screen. Seems like a dodgy connection some where , possibly ( my guess ) a dry solder joint in side a plug in wiper control module ?

Auris bluetooth conundrum by Nick[_5_]
Hello. my wife got a new Toyota Auris this week with built-in bluetooth for her phone. Have paired the phone to the car and that bit is working spot on However, I cannot copy the phone book from her phone to the car. I have read the manual and think I am doing all correctly.
