Ford focus link by Dubber
I was hoping some one might know of a guide to change the links on a ford focus 1.8 petrol (04). I have just bought one the drivers was was done as parts of the pre delivery inspection. But I think the passenger side can't be far long behind it ?; so I though a little preventative maintenance may be whats needed. Is there a guide lurking round here for this job or where might a new ford...

mondeo cabin and coolant heaters by Fred[_7_]
Hi, I have a 2010 Mondeo. I was using google to look for ford forums/fora and found some posts saying that the 2 L diesel that I have has a 600W electric heater, so that when it is cold (like the last few days), it will heat the cabin without having to wait for the engine to warm up. I don't think this is documented anywhere. I would have thought the salesmen could use this as a sales...

peugeot 206 headlights down by Tim Downie[_3_]
tg wrote: got a really bad problem I can't solve on a peugot 206 2001 Y reg. The low beam headlights don't work. High beam is fine. I replaced the headlight switch stalk off the steering wheel but no joy. Is there a single fuse that feeds these lights? or is it a relay? If so where is it? I've googled for ages on this but can't find any info. I keep reading about passenger side fuses...

remote locking 2006 ford fusion question by Ghostrecon
My mother has a 2006 Fusion and the remote key has died (PATS is fine - will start the car) I tried changing the battery but no life at all. I reckon the key has died but to check I tried to put the car into programming mode - I understand that turning from pos II to nothing 4 times in 3 seconds and then removing the key should do this and the led should come on without flashing. When I do this...

Focus unlocking itself by Gareth Magennis
(Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec 2001) Hi, I know this "central locking unlocking itself whilst stationary" is a common problem. It happened before and lots of locking and unlocking cured it for a couple of years. Its happened again now. Found the car unlocked and ransacked after a weekend away, and the doors were immediately unlocking after locking, but a

VW sharan key woes by Jeff[_8_]
Apologies chap if I'm asking this in the wrong place, I normally post here for my mk4 golf. Basically I have a 2000 sharan and 2 keys. One key works fine but the other had a new battery in but it won't open close or start the car. I'm guessing the key is now dead and I need a new one. I called VW who quote me £240!!! for one key I said no thanks lol. Any advice welcomed on what to do.

Battery light focus by Adam[_5_]
I have a 1.8 ghia petrol focus 2004 model. I pulled away this afternoon and the battery light came on. I turns the car off and then retstarted and the light went off. I'm hoping it was justa blip but the suspicious in me is wondering if there is a fault with the battery or charging system. A multimeter indicates 12.50v when off and 14.50v when running which seems normal to me bearing in...

Life expectancy of Octavia TDI v 525d by David Paste[_2_]
Hello, All other things being equal, which car (engine, I suppose really) has the best chance of lasting longer - 2006 Mk2 Octavia 2.0 TDI PD with 55,000 miles; or a 2005 525d with 106,000 miles? Car will be used on a 50 mile/day motorway commute. Would these mileages be considered quite run-of-the-mill now for a modern engine, with plenty of life left, or would they be approaching their last...

Small automatics by dr6092
My mother wants to downsize from her Peugeot 307 auto. Ideally the the next one would also have a torque converter but the problem is that when a car is described as "automatic" it is not always obvious what is fitted - ie, torque converter, CVT, automated manual... Automated manuals don't seem well regarded for smoothness, as in Toyota MMT or Honda i-shift (and she won't want to learn a...

Focus strange electrical chirp sound by Micheal
Morning all, I have a weird problem that just started last night. Basically I turned the car on, turned the lights on and there was a audible chirp kind of like a cheap toy with a dying battery is best I can describe it. It was a beep no lights are on the dash and the car is running as normal. It sounds like it came from the dashboard. I cannot find out in the manual anywhere despite going...

Groaning when pulling away by Jeff[_8_]
My focus (1.8 petrol 2004) has started making groaning noise as I pull away from cold. After its hot the noise is gone. It sounds as though it is coming from the drivers wheel area I could be wrong or it could be vibrating possibly form somewhere else masking its true location. How do I determine what this sound is or where it is coming from. Its definitely a groaning noise not a a squeak...

Skoda accident damage by Simon Finnigan
Hi all, The wife bumped her Skoda Octavia recently, and we had to get it repaired by the insurance company (it caused quite a lot of damage the plastic elements etc). The accident involved her hitting something head on (yes, I know......). The bumper, frame underneath, bonnet, grill and both light clusters where replaced, but the light clusters seem out of line to how I remember them. I've not...

Focus passenger side headlight by Micheal
Typical I'm away from home and the passenger headlight blew on my journey. I'm hoping to pop to halfords and pick up a bulb and hope I can change it without a tool kit. I thought as I have some net access (extremely slow access) to ask if anyone has done this and if its simple enough with out have to undo a lot of things considering what a headache of changing a headlight on modern day...

Ford focus battery by Micheal
mk 1.5 1.8 16v 04 petrol focus. Asking on behalf of a friend at work, who has the same car funny enough. His battery has failed after 8 years of service! which is very good imho. I know the focus requires a special calcium battery .. something to do with the smart charge system I think so you can't use a lead battery. He found a bopsch s4 battery 60ah/540cca for £55 at his local motor factors
