Peugeot Boxer van. by Dave Plowman (News)
Anyone know if a brand new Peugeot Boxer van has headlights which adjust for driving on the right? The handbook says nothing on the subject. A mate has just bought a camper van and is off abroad with it. There appears to be a large wing nut you can feel but not see on top above the dip unit, and it clicks round about 90 degrees - but can't see anything moving inside the light and couldn't look...

Sierra tyre wear/handling by Rockingrabbit
Getting uneven front tyre wear (offside inner of tyre) and handling not as good as 3000 miles ago. Nothing serious and not pulling but have to concentrate more to keep it in centre of motorway lane. Will wander in lane if relax for a moment. Any thoughts on what needs replacing? Think I heard wishbone bushes are a regular problem?? Rockingrabbit

Clio Clutch by PCPaul
A friend has just bought an '02 Clio which has a quite heavy clutch with a high pedal. Is that normal? Is there any way to lower and/or soften the pedal? She has a long term back problem and finds it painful to use. And don't ask me why she bought the car when it hurts to drive it - if she'd listened to me *at all* she wouldn't have a Renault, would she!

Where to get a rear axle differntial - for a fancy demo! by Conor[_3_]
In article , Elder says... In article , says... Heralds, Spitfires and the like all had diffs with external driveshafts (i.e. not "banjo" type axles). They also had the advantage (for you) of a removable rear casing that leaves most of the workings visible. ...

Shaking steering wheel Nissan Micra by Loopy Loo
I have a 1996 1.3 Nissan Micra which has had a shaking steering wheel since I bought it a year ago. I have had the wheels balanced half a dozen times at three different places, and also the tracking done, and it is still happening. In fact, from only doing it at around 70 mph it is now doing it from about 30mph upwards since the last balancing this weekend. The place assures me their balancing...

Wheel compatibility by Cicero
Does anybody know of a chart showing interchangeability of *steel* car wheels? Which wheels can be used on which cars? For example, do Fiesta 14" wheels have the same bolt holes as Peugeot 14" wheels? Tia, Cic. -- ==========================================

Corsa diesel starter motor EEEEEK sound by jayseeblue
Hi I couple of months ago I posted about an intermitent problem with my 1996 Corsa diesel starter. Well I replaced the starter and solenoid with a second hand one off an old diesel Corsa I owned which had no problems when it was on that previous car. The "new" starter was off a 1.7 diesel and I fitted it to a 1.5td.....Both Isuzu engines. The two starters look the same but have a different...

Not servicing a car? by Doki
Has anyone ever done a test of the effects of not servicing a car? I know most of the people here will service their cars as per the schedule, but a lot of people don't even bother with oil changes.

Renaul Laguna engine idle 2500 - 5000 RPM? by Dean[_2_]
I have a Renault Laguna 1.8 Expression 2003 (53 plate) that starts ok but after approx 3 minutes while driving the engine starts to judder, a light with a coil and a line through it lights up on the dash, when i come to a stop the engine idles between 2500 and 5000 rpm, occasionally the engine management light comes on. If i stop the engine and start it up again its's ok until i start to...

Cambelts... by Doki
I'm thinking of swapping engines in my Golf. How much is there to cock up when doing a cambelt on a twin cam engine? I'd have the thing out of the car so access wouldn't be a problem. I'm happy doing most mechanical things but I've never done a cambelt before...

Tyre wear and tracking by Theo Markettos
I have a late 1980s Mitsubishi Colt that's been having some problems with heavy wear on the outside third of the front tyres. I put a new front tyre on in October last year from Garage A. The existing front tyre I think was fitted in 2006 (perhaps 8000 miles before) - it was worn, but I can't specifically remember if it was just the outside. 600 miles later in December, it needed a new track...

A6 aircon blowing hot and cold by Tim Downie
I have a friend with a 3 year old Audi A6 (2.7 diesel I think) that has had a problem for a long time now with the aircon intermitantly going a bit haywire and either blowing very hot or very cold. Garage is at a loss as nothing shows up in the computer logs (and I guess intellegent guesswork/diagnosis is beyond them) and because the problem is only intermittant and typically never happens...

Unsmoothed car battery charger - is it crap? by Eddie[_3_]
My car battery is oversized for the car. The battery is a bit old but usually works fine. The battery is flat (I left the lights on). My fancy new modern charger senses a poor battery and only puts in very little charge. I used to use a really old charger to charge this battery successfully. I opened up the old charger and saw it was only a transformer and a big rectifier. That's it. ...

using torque wrench replacing thermostat. by john royce
Today I replaced the thermostat on a 1994 toyota corolla. The only gasket I could see was a rubber ring that sits on the edge of the thermostat and gets sandwiched between the engine head and the thermostat cover. Also in the Haynes manual they said to put the rubber ring on the thermostat, but said nothing about any other gasket. So I'm assuming that I am tightening up the two halves on...

Accord Purchased - and confused by Arthur 51
Hi all. I went to look at a Honda Accord 2.0 LS auto 1995 115K on the clock from a used car dealer. It was advertised on ebay for £990 which is too high but its only had 1 prev owner....come with a ltd warranty and 12 month MOT. I booked a test drive and before anyone has mentioned any money the rep tells me its selling for £690.....no arguements from me with an instant discount of £300. But...
