alandav123
Hi all, we are looking to buy a used LDV or Transit van minibus to use
as our family vehicle (Mondeo Estate is way too small) but the newer
ones for sale 2000 onwards are all asking for VAT on top.
We will not use the van commercially so would like to know how to go
about getting such a van without VAT on top.
Is it done by age, intended usage, number of seats etc... we cant work
out hoew the...

new models due out by
jsp[_2_]
Hi,
I have noticed that several new models are due out soon, like the new
Golf and the New Focus. Do you think that there would be a chance to
get an extra good deal on the current version after the new one has
come out? Also does anybody know when is the best time? I'm not sure
whether they just suddenly discontinue the old model as soon as the
new one goes into production. I'm interested to...

Steering Wheel Hacked Off!! by
ProducerPJ[_2_]
It's been over 5 years since I've been a victim of car crime but it
seems tonight was my turn again
Returned to my 1995 Renault Clio RT tonight, to find the steering
wheel hacksawed off whilst I'd been at work
It's a £300 old car that I leave in a Railway station car park all
day, so that this sort of thing shouldn't happen, or when it does I
shouldn't care too much about it (Oh but I...

BMW 320D cold starting problem ? by
Tony B
My 52 reg bmw 320d diesel is having problems starting on the cold mornings
recently. The engine turns over fine, but will not fire. Later in the day,
or evening it's fine, even if it's been standing all day.so it seems to be
temperature related.
Can anyone suggest any reasons for this happening that I can check myself or
will I need to take it to a garage ?
Do I need to find a diesel...

Escort: Pollen Filter? by
Robert[_3_]
A quick query, do any of the late mark6 escorts have pollen filters? Only
those with A/C? My haynes manual doesn't mention one, but I would have
thought that a car with A/C surely had a pollen filter!
Taken a look but it's dull here and no light available really, so will have
to double-check when it's a nicer day.
Cheers

Heater problems on Mondeos by
George[_3_]
My friend has a R reg. Mondeo and I have an N reg. one. They both have
similar faults and having read previous posts talking about vacuum
hoses being the problem, I wonder if the two cars use the same control
system and if we both have vacuum pipes split.
Where are the pipes exactly? A look at my manual does not say
anything about this.
Any comments welcome. Thanks.

the AIM of LIFE by
abdo911
What is your purpose in life? What is the rationale behind our life?
Why do we live in this life? These questions frequently intrigue
people who try to find accurate answers.
People provide different answers to these questions. Some people
believe the purpose of life is to accumulate wealth. But one may
wonder: What is the purpose of life after one has collected colossal
amounts of money? What...

Car New for Mitsubishi 2008 by
john
Good news to know!! An everyday sedan with a sporty demeanor.
With the recent doubling of crude-oil prices, Mitsubishi's ninth-
generation Lancer is arriving at a time of renewed interest in
smallish sedans. As with most new vehicles, this latest Lancer is
stiffer and more powerful than its predecessor, but unlike most of its
competitors, it hasn't grown much in...

Mondeo TDCi (130) and Biodiesel by
Conor
Just got an 04 plate Mondeo 2L TDCi (130). Place local to me, ID Oils
(http://www.idoils.co.uk/) recycles veggie oil it sells to food places
and sells it for vehicles. From what I remember, they do the full
processing on it and stick in the additives required to thin it out
etc.
Would it be suitable to use in the Mondeo? I don't think that straight
veggie oil would be but buying from this...

Fuel filter question Citroen AX by
David Linley
I started giving my AX its 72000 mile service today.
When I came to the fuel filter, the new one I'd bought had the arrow
pointing in the opposite direction from the one which was fitted. I fitted
the new one according to the arrow and the car is running, but the filter
doesn't seem to be such a snug fit in the retaining strap as the old one.
Unlike the diagram in the Haynes manual the...

Problems after headgasket change by
Phaeton
Changed head gasket & 4 valves on a 1998 1.6 16V Petrol Astra yesterday,
all seemed to go well until it was started again. It's now running
extremely rich, black smoke from exhaust & ticks over at 2.5K. Tried
disconnecting battery to try to reset ECU but suspect I've either got
some of the sensor wires wrong or could the Lamba be screwed? There's
also 2 connectors near the injection rail one...

Stainless Exhausts by
Your Worst Nightmare
Why oh why isn't there a law, forcing car manufacturers to fit stainless
steel exhausts?
Yesterday, I had a stainless steel exhaust, custom built for my 03 Daihatsu
van, cost £300, working out £20 cheaper than exhaust centre could offer a
bog standard steel one.
When I picked the van up from the custom exhaust centre, I looked at the
pile of rotting boxes and pipes sitting in a skip and...
