04 Accord windscreen washer alignment by Kostas Kavoussanakis
The left washer was intermittently blocked since I bought it used a month ago. Looks like I have unblocked it, but both washers now aim too high, sprinkling the roof and rear window. Is there a way to align these? I saw that one can turn them with a screwdriver, but this seemed to only affect which way the dual sprays go with respect to each other. Thanks for any pointers,

Car maintenance on public road law by Peter smith
I was wondering if there is a law against working on your car on a public road outside your home. I recall reading something recently I think from doki having trouble with the council while doing some work on his car. I was just wondering if there is a specific law which states whats acceptable and whats not on a public road.

How easy is it to change battery in Burglar Alarm on Astra 1.6I W reg by gray
My factory fitted alarm keeps going off randomly. This happened 3 years ago, and was told its the battery in the alarm. I got it changed by a garage, which cured the problem. But how easy is it to change battery in Burglar Alarm and were is it ??? Better still any ideas how to bypass the alarm, so I can keep my dog in there with the doors locked.

Rover 200 Clutch by [email protected]
Hi all, My wifes Rover 200 clutch is slipping badly - to the point that we can constantly smell it burning. So, in true British spirit, I plan to change it tomorrow .... outside ... now that the weather is turning cold. The car is a 1.6. 99 bubble shape and the question really is .... are there any complications in the change? I have read the manual and it all looks pretty straightforward, but...

Rattle in an Omega by Tim Walters[_3_]
I have a Vauxhall Omega (2003 registration). It's just had an MOT (and needed 600 quidsworth of work to pass the test). The following problem has recently developed. When I pull up at a traffic light and leave the car in gear, there's a rattle. If I put it in neutral, the rattle goes away. What could this be? Thanks for your help.

Demoving dirty engine oil from clothes by Tim Downie
A lost cause or worth a shot? I went a bit mad last weekend and changed the oil in my lawnmower. Unfortunately, I didn't realise just how far hot oil could splash and managed to spatter my craghopper trousers with old oil. Conventional washing hasn't shifted the oily marks. Any suggestions or should I just bin them? I haven't tried drycleaning (yet) as I'm concerned I could be just wasting...

new temp sensor problems by Dubber
I bought a new coolant temp sensor as my old one failed to even show any temperature reading. I bought a new one from Eurocar parts and it started showing a reading, but would was 2 bars away from 90 which I understand is the optimal temperature. So I bought a genuine one from VW fitted it and it shows 80 degress roughly. No matter how long I drive it stays at 80, is this normal or is...

2001 Focus 1.6 Zetec-S engine HT Leads by Morse
I'm going to replace the HT leads soon on my Focus. Is it wise to stick with genuine Ford or are the Pumaspeed Blues a good alternative? http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk/showdetails.php?id=471 Thanks, Morse

Daughter's Ka ... by Arfa Daily
Bog standard model. S plate. Do water pumps ever fail on these, and if so, what noise do they make? Bit of background. Fairly suddenly - like in seemed quiet one day, noticeable the next - a 'graunching' noise started at the far left side of the engine, as you look into the bonnet. Sounds rotational rather than reciprocating. Present at idle, also audible when driving. Not a 'heavy' sound,...

mechanics gloves by Mrcheerful
For many years I have used latex or nitrile gloves for most work, I tried snap on mechanics gloves which are thin leather and although great at first they quickly got holed or soaked. But now I think I have found the answer for heavier work without losing too much feel. In Costco they have started to sell boxes of gloves called 'contour avenger' they are a sort of knitted nylon with a thin...

Sharan 2006 Front Pad Warnibg light by Tim[_8_]
First question does the "check brake pads" message on the "computer screen"mean front pads or all pads? No other light is on viz in main speedo area and is not shown all the time. I have had one wheel off and nearly the pads out (seems like a fair bit of lining still to go and no warning wire exposed yet) but was stumped by the wire connection from the pad to the connector behind the calliper....

Cost of tracking by Peter smith
I had a bit of an accident on the weekend, the wishbone was damaged and the steering rack rod, and the ends and drop links, according to the garage who looked at it, friend of the family. I spent today replacing the parts, all done except I haven't got the wishbone in as I was having trouble aligning it and the daylight had disappeared and work working with a torce, so called it a day....

Further adventures of a Megane by Mungo \Two Sheds\ Toadfoot
Son bought a Megane Scenic a while back. Serves him right, but he keeps bothering me about the bloody thing like I recommended it! Anyway, at some point someone chopped all the wires off wot go to the original radio and allegedly this has stopped the interior lights, electric mirrors and clock working, according to the previous owner. Son took the car to Halfords today for to get the wires...
