Default Focus unlocking itself

(Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec 2001)

Hi,
I know this "central locking unlocking itself whilst stationary" is a common
problem.
It happened before and lots of locking and unlocking cured it for a couple
of years.

Its happened again now. Found the car unlocked and ransacked after a
weekend away, and the doors were immediately unlocking after locking, but a
few locks and unlocks seemes to have cured it again for now, as before.
The passenger side worked OK when I tried it, going back to the drivers side
did not, so I suspect the drivers side mechanism only.

So, switch cleaner or WD40? Or just lots of locking/unlocking cycles?
What part of the mechanism is usually at fault here?

Cheers,

Gareth.

Cheers,

I had something similar on a mk4 golf, turns out some soldier joints on the
door lock module were cracked. Simple fix was a strip down resolder it.
Could be different but sounds as though something is up with the locking
mechanism.

I wonder if I diagnostic scan could pick up which door(s) are at fault. At
least you know the passenger side is ok but the rest possibly not. Most
likely may be the drivers side.

Also worth checking out fordowners club they know a lot there.
