Default 8mm HT cable.

Anyone know a source of 8mm resistive HT (spark plug) cable suitable for
EDIS? The genuine Ford stuff measures at about 20K ohm per metre. Only one
I could find is a spiral wound type at about 3k ohm per metre.

if you have the coils one each side then can you use some genuine ford
leads? or do you need super long leads?

It's caused me grief trying to find somewhere decent to fit the coils.
I've ended up with them at the front of the engine roughly where the dizzy
was - and neither Mondeo or Escort leads are quite long enough. The
longest run is about 1 metre. I'd also be happier with new matching
leads - and to buy two sets ain't cheap.

Try Fiesta leads, MK 3-4 ?.
It's what I've used on mine, they were longer than Mondeo ones...

they are. I found a place that makes custom length leads for edis
conversions with the clip on ends and whatever type of plug cap you want,
but they don't state what the resistance is.:

I know you can buy custom made leads - says starting at 30 quid. So
probably the thick end of 100 for a V-8. Cable should be no more than 2.50
a metre, and I've already got the terminals and a suitable crimp tool.

So what I need to know is where they get their cable from...

My brother got the Ford leads I have for me. I've no idea where the
nearest scrappie is to here anymore that might have them.

I suppose I could look at Fiesta leads in Halfords, and measure them?

there is loose 8mm carbon lead by the metre on ebay at 1.50/metre, don't say
what ohms it is though, but you could ask:

They don't know but I can amswer. 1K8 a metre. It's spiral wound stuff.

I don't want to fry the EDIS unit or blot out my radio and every TV within
miles, so unless told it's ok would rather try and get the OEM stuff.

Have you tried "car builder solutions" they supply parts for kit cars and
other "one offs" so might be worth an ask!!

this is just a suggestion, I am not affiliated with and have never yet
brought from them..

These people sell "high resistance" HT cable by the metre.

http://www.gsparkplug.com/shop/plug-leads-conectors-ht-lead/ht-plug-cables.html?p=2

These sell it too (9.8Kilohms to 23.0Kilohms, meeting SAE J557 spec)

http://www.thetoolboxshop.com/0-961-58-1-black-silicon-insulated-suppressive-ignition-cable-8mm-outside-diameter-8420-p.asp

I've not had any dealings with either, just spent 15m googling for the fun.

I contacted both asking for the actual figure per metre - and neither
knew. A cable with a tolerance of 9K8 - 23K would seem a bit strange.
