They're so worn I can move them by hand while on the car.. The nuts at both ends are totally knackered. They just spin, and there's nothing on the other end to get a grip to stop them turning. Is it worth buying one of those nut splitters that you just tighten like a blade... Or should I just get the grinder on them? Mike P OO wish I had a gringer, I used a sodding hacksaw .. ok I cheatedonly went halfway then some grippers and bendy wobbly off it technique came in. Get the angle grinder on it ![]() a cheap grinder can be less than 10 pounds if you look around, lidl and aldi weekly specials are often good for cheap tools, sign up for their mailshots. Buy the goggles or mask though, if you wear galsses angle grinder sparks weld to them, which aint cheap but still less grief than what they do to your eyeball. and avoid grinding near glass, seats, carpets or paintwork, they get damaged by the sparks very easily too, it sounds obvious when you are warned about it, but I have damaged a few things by forgetting it, or not realising how far the sparks are going. sobTake your watch off too/sob |

"Mrcheerful" wrote in message m... good point, I forget that one as I never, ever wear a watch. a habit I lost decades ago. the other thing that I did once was to set fire to my overalls with grinder sparks!!! Don't forget to leave your mobile out of grinder-range too. The "sparks" and steel dust get attracted to the speaker(s) in your phone and eventually it stops working.... Ask me how I know... ![]() I had a philips cordless phone that I had to clean out every now and again, the neodymium magnet on the speaker just sucked everything in, the only way to get it clean was using sellotape, I knew it needed doing when the sound got crackly and distorted. |
