Default 97 - 1.0 Polo Stalling/Hesitation in wet conditions

My girlfriends car as above has stalled and refused to start in heavy
rain on a few occasions. Prior to actually stalling it gets really
sluggish and wont rev easily. I was going to replace the leads/
distributor cap/rotor arm/spark plugs to see if that sorted it but
before I did so I wondered if someone could tell me what the most
likely cause could be?

Thanks in advance

Leads most likely, followed by cap.

If she is going to be keeping the car for a while, and there is no record
of when any of the items you mentioned were last changed, I would suggest
doing them all. The cost would be minimal.

seconded. It's not worth mucking about.
