Do I qualify as a "personal import" or not ? by
Tingeridge
I live in Trinidad & drive a Honda Fit which was imported from Japan as
a used car. I am returning to live in the UK in February and would like
to bring my car with me, but I am not sure whether I will have to pay
duty ? I have had the car for more than 6 months, but I will only have
been living in Trinidad for 10 months by the time I leave, not a full
year. Does this mean I will have to pay duty...

Info on importing Japanese Mazda Van (Bongo) by
Adam Lipscombe
Folks,
I am interested in getting hold of a recent Mazda Bongo Friendee (!!) camper
van.
There are a couple of dealers in the UK who import them, and the average
porice for a '96 seems to be @ 7-8k.
I wondered if I could save myself a packet by importing it myself, or get
later model for the same price.

Type approval by
Martin Akehurst
I'm intending to import a car from the US into the UK. The car is more than
10years old and hence requires MOT only.
In order to get it registered in the UK I have to supply various documents,
including 'evidence of type approval'
Anyone any idea of what this is please?
Many thanks

Importing from US, advice required by
Martin Akehurst
I'm off to the US later this year. I'd like to buy a US classic car and
bring it back to the UK.
I understand SVA is waived for pre 1973 cars?
Has anyone out there done it and if so how difficult is it?
I'd probably be aiming for an early 1970's Ford Mustang
All advice gratefully received
