Current state of play: parallel imports by PhilipS
Dear All, From once being a regular reader (and occasional poster) to this group, I have rather switched my allegiance to alt.autos.alfa-romeo (change from ‘chooser' to ‘user'!) I successfully imported my Alfa 147 from Holland in September 2001. I followed the DIY route, organising everything and dealing direct with Peter Baak in Voorschoten (even managing to get fully comp insurance from pick...

Hi there, Thanks for the response. But I deal specifically with New Cars that are here in the UK already ! Am I missing something here? or is this really relevant to importing cars? "chr9336" wrote in message news:%XwVb.439178$X%5.425373@pd7tw2no... A question on big tyres by Dan Roberts
"Peter" wrote in message ... I've got the Toyota Soarer (1995, 3L) and it's excellent. However I have found something which may well be common to wide tyres but I have not owned a wide tyre car before... It goes perfectly on smooth surfaces, but on others it tends to track undulations in the road, so one...

Where to get SVA work done? by Dan Roberts
Hi all, I've got a 98 Firebird coming from the US in around 3 weeks and it needs SVA work done, just a few light mods. I live in Southampton and am looking for somewhere local who can do the SVA work and put it through the test. I spoke to Mildenhall Auto Centre in Suffolk who were really helpful and would do it for me, but there must be somewhere around Southampton considering it's a major UK...

Toyota MR2 Turbo by Oscar
I would like to import a Toyota MR2 Turbo, hopefully a revision 3. Is it feasible to do it all yourself? or do yo have to pay somebody to do it for you (UK based). I think I could get my way through the import & the SVA but it's the start that bothers me. How do you contact somebody in Japan in the first place that is going to find the right car for you so that when it lands it's not a...

Traffic in cars? But what about traffic to your website! by Martin Blankenstein
Dear reader, This message is only sent once to you. I found your newsgroup under the heading "cars". If the content does not apply to you then I apologise. When you are looking for ways to find traffic, this rages over the Web. Take a look! Lots of traffic with no cost on advertising at all. I personally wrecked my brain and spend lots of time finding a way to promote my website. I share this...

Japanese are very good at taking ideas and making them better. Would there be a market if they made a Ferari/lamborgini lookalike and charged less$$? by LovingPerson
Dear all: Call it a silly childhood idea, but I have had this idea for the last fifteen years. I first drew these plans when I was in high school. My idea is this: Make a car that is in every way the cross between the Ferari F-50 and the Lamborgini Koontach (crossing them because you don't want to infringe on copyrights), but put a rice burner engine under the hood. You will end...

LED foglamps / decent auto electrics firm in Sussex? by phiz
"Peter" wrote in message ... Hi, I've got the vehicle (Soarer) and need to fit a couple of decent foglamps into the rear bumper. It came with a bodged one to satisfy the SVA requirements. I think I may as well go for LED ones. I wonder if there is a common source for these, as it must be a common...

Has there ever been a *manual* Lexus Soarer? by Adrian
Peter ) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying : Manual transmission must be worth a good 10-20% on the MPG... On a decent modern multispeed autobox with lockup? Not necessarily.

Hi, I'm trying to get information on how to ship a car back from Brazil to the UK - does anyone know of any shipping companies that can do this for me, and point me in the right direction? I know the car will have to go from Paranagua to Southampton, and that it will cost around £850.
