Default Nissan largo light sensor

I noticed when looking through my Japanese owners manual there's a
sensor on the front left hand inside of the car where the wind shield
meets the are vent roughly where the tax disk is. I asked a Japanese
friend to look at the manual she said it was a light sensor. My
question is what is a light sensor

It could be to activate the headlamps if you have an auto setting on the
switch - makes them come on automatically when it gets dark.
Or could be a sensor for temp controlled AC

I thought of the auto headlamp things so covered it up with card to if the lights come on and HEY PRESTO?????? they dont. The temp senser idea seems like a good one untill you realised what a daft place it would to put a temp sensor. The climate control measures the temp of the whole car so having it right under the window just doest make sense to me.

Oh by the way heres a pic of my largo

I think it is more likely to be a temp sensor for the climate control,
which incidentally wont go below 18 degrees which is a pain as is aint
quite cold enough for me!!!

I'll have a look tonight to see if I have one!

Matt black? if so its a radiated heat sensor. It (well in my Toyota Estima)
increases fan speeds when it heats up through bright sunshine

Nice motor!! Love the wheels, mine is pretty standard in green, will try to
post a link later.

With regards to the sensor, it does seem a weird place and I need to check
it out, but on my Delica it was under the steering column which is also a
strange place to put it!!
