Hi there
I took my uk registered car with me to work abroad in 2004 and am soon to return. As I was away for over 12 months I had to officially export the car as far as the dvla was concerned using the relevant form and send off part of my registration document. I have 2 questions: 1) How do I legally get from the uk port to my home as far as road tax is concerened when I'm only supposed to register the vehicle AFTER my arrival to the UK? 2) Do I need to worry about any customs and excise issues upon my return? Do I need any forms filled in given my particular circumstances for example? Many thanks Mickey |

saying : 1) How do I legally get from the uk port to my home as far as road tax is concerened when I'm only supposed to register the vehicle AFTER my arrival to the UK? Simple. You just drive it perfectly legally on it's foreign plates. 2) Do I need to worry about any customs and excise issues upon my return? Do I need any forms filled in given my particular circumstances for example? No, you just need to re-register it in the UK. |
