Apologies for cross posting this message, however I got no response in
the misc group. I am moving to Denmark this year, and although I will have an address there, I will be keeping my UK address and will continue to work for a UK company, as I work on a ship performing offshore construction. And hence I will continue to be governed by UK tax law. My question is, what are the rules regarding me taking my UK car into Denmark? I have read mixed postings in various groups. Some lead you to believe that I will be liable to pay 60% (ish) of the value of the car as a registration fee. However others would lead me to believe that I can bring the car in on "Border" plates for up to a year. The other issue is that I am thinking of buying a new car fairly soon and would wish to bring that car over to Denmark instead of my current car, and some of the information leads me to believe that I have to have owned my car for the previous 6months or 1 year and that I cannot then sell the car for 2 years. Any accurate information that people have would be appreciated. Ben |
