Hi,

I am a car dealer based in the UK and have just bought a LHD car registered
on proper Spanish number plates in May 2002. The hassle is I don't want to
register the car in the UK as it will no doubt end up back in Spain once it
has been sold. The ex-pat owner is elderly and doesn't have a clue how to do
the paperwork in Spain to "de-register" it as sold to a dealer and is
worried about ongoing road tax bills. I know what to do to transfer the
ownership if I was a private person living in Spain buying the car to use on
the road but I can't seem to find out what I do as a car dealer!

Does anybody know how the current owner can be sure he won't be due any
further road tax and inform the authorities the car has been sold while I
can be sure the number plates will be valid for transfer to a new Spanish
owner at sometime in the future when the car has been sold? A most confusing
situation!
