Good sites to look for used LPG cars? by
Paul Morgan
I'm looking to buy a cheap LPG car to use for commuting (it will be a second
car so I don't care to much for high spec or performance). Tried the usual
places like autotrader, exchange&mart, loot, adtrader etc. They all have a
decent selection but was wondering if there are any other sites recommended.
Looking for a private sale, 99.9% of dealers are a total rip-off especially
when it comes to...

Don't convert a new car to LPG! by
Amanda Haydock
Just thought I'd pass on my experience of LPG conversion. I bought a new 2.5
V6 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2 years ago, I had it converted to LPG by a reputable
firm (who later went bust!) the conversion was underbody and was a great
job. The cost was £1,800 The car had a 13 gallon LPG tank and a 8 gallon
petrol tank. I have had no trouble whatsoever with the LPG except for the
inconvenience of trying...

Countrywide Gas by
Neil Cummins
Hi
I've not seen anyone mention Countrywide gas on the NG so I thought I'd let
people know about them in case you find it useful - no connection other than
satisfied customer. Countrywide have a range of unmanned LPG filling
points, predominantly over in the West (Glos, Worcs etc) - you get given a
key and a PIN, you insert key & pin in machine and get gas out, which is
billed monthly in...

Maintenance by
Mick
Having had my lpg conversion for about two years is there anything I should
do re maintenance or servicing? My Laguna is serviced at the Renault dealers
but I suspect they do not touch the gas aspect

3.5 V8 carb lpg conversion - help by
LOOTA
I've got an ex met police riot bus LDV LWB twin rear 400, twin carb,
no cat, 22k miles c/w 3.5 V8, a sweet runner returing 17-20mpg, which
compares favourably with plenty of R/rovers. However, she's an obvious
LPG/dualfuel candidate.
I've been told that being carb she has to have an induction type
system which, unless fitted by someone with a lot of experience,
could mean I sacrifice a lot of...

David Cawkwell
I had my conversion done at Dave Crofts Motor Engineers in Chesterfield and
had no problems there.
A small friendly little garage. It's pretty close to you.

too slow by
Wim Roffal
Hi,
I have an Opel Kadett from 1989 on LPG. Recently it got some problems:
- when I drive at a certain speed (sometimes 100 km/h, sometimes 120 km/h)
it seems not to get enough fuel and the car starts to shock irregularly. In
the past the max speed was 150 km/h and there was no shocking.
- changing from LPG to petrol and back is no longer immediate. There are
now a few seconds without fuel.

you may recall a thread a bit back about using the coldness in the
vapouriser to cool the interior of the car through the heater.
well, today I tried jury-rigging it in the yard, using an old washing
machine pump (which leaks) driven by an electric drill.
and you get...

LPG Consumption by
Hog
So...I now have this Volvo S40 2.0L dual fuel. The LPG system is OMVL. The
first tank (by me) has disappeared at the rate of 18 mpg, Erk. What are the
usual suspects?
I hope there is no gas leak! and presumably there is some sort of
adjustment.

Thinking of buying An LPG car by
Paul
Hi,
I recently have started to do alot of commuting to work.........I now
cover on average 400 miles a week.
I was initally looking to replace my car with a Diesel, but then it
occured to me that I could buy a used petrol car with an LPG
conversion already done.....for the same price as a diesel car of the
same age.

I still say you will be better off using an electric Aux water pump from a
Renault 19 16v or Volvo 440/460/480 Turbo or the electric power steering
pump used in some cars. again the one of a Renault 19 16v would definitely
give you a fair old amount of pressure and flow :)
that's kind of what I...

Vaporiser Problem by
Tom Murkin
Hi,
Got a problem with the LPG system fitted to my 1600 VW Beetle. It's fitted
with BRC equipment.
It will only run with the max flow adjuster screwed right in which I suspect
is the problem with lack of power. Any setting off this and the engine just
stalls, adjusting the vaporiser seems to make absolutely no difference at
all.
