Cherokee running rough - Any ideas by
Raymond Ramsey
My '95 4.0 Cherokee has an LPG conversion. There is a selector switch giving
the following options 1-Petrol..2-LPG..3-Start using Petrol automatically
switch to LPG shortly after starting. I've been advised selecting 3 is the
best option.
Cold starts do not seem to be a problem. However starting when engine is
warm either switch position 1 or 3 is murder! The engine miss-fires and runs
rough....

Insurance Confusion by
Spozza
Hi, I hope we arn't all too tired of this one, couldn't find it in the
FAQ
I phoned my insurers, who made it very clear to me that if I had a
conversion done, it would have to be certified by LPGA fitter (i.e.
I would require a certificate).
They told me that if the work was done and certified, no effect to
my premium - if not, they wouldn't insure me. This is Direct Line.

That idle problem again by
Stewart Hargrave
I thought I had resolved the uneven idle problem on my '87 Volvo 740
with a new distributor cap. It lasted about ten minutes until the
engine was fully warmed up. Over the past couple of weeks it seems to
have become a little worse.
Tickover on LPG has never been quite as smooth on LPG as it is on
petrol, but now it is significantly worse than it used to be. Sitting
at traffic lights is quite...

£800 000 powershift waste of money by
Ivan Lucas
yes, that's true....but then again 1000 new vehicles produce the same amount
of pollution as a single 1980s range rover. So converting one old range
rover can have the same environmental benefit as converting 1000 ford
focuses on powershift at a cost to the taxpayer of approximately £800 000!
As a taxpayer, which would you prefer to fund - one old car or 1000 new
cars?
Although it's...

Vapouriser water flow by
zanimat
With the onset of winter I have been reminded of the limitations of my
heating system! (Pug 405)
I wonder how much this is affected by the "bypass" effect of the vapouriser
water flow and whether there would be anything to gain from controlling this
flow.
I was thinking along the lines of fitting one of the gas flow control valves
used in closed loop systems into the water outlet line, with its...

using LPG in france by
Nick Platon
I just came back from calais and i put a full tank of LPG. Has anyone had
problems using the gas from france and their system. i knew that the gas in
france was more butane rather than propane in england; when i questioned the
fitters they said the system would adjust and accept the gas. however i have
had problems in getting the system to accept the french gas, sometimes it's
ok but then it...

Powershift Grants by
SteveG
Just out of curiosity, has anyone on this group received a grant for
converting their vehicle to LPG? It might be interesting to see what
vehicle it was, how old and how much the grant was ...
Just to start things off I got absolutely nothing when I converted my
1996 Discovery and it isn't even excempt from London Congestion
Charging.

WELSH ASSEMBLY CNG irony by
Ivan Lucas
The welsh assembly have a remit to encourage the uptake of CNG in vehicles,
particularly heavy goods vehicles.
These are comments received from the welsh assembly regarding potential
conversion of their own heavy vehicle fleet:
1. It is not economical to convert
2. the refuelling equipment is too expensive
3. the engines dont run well on CNG, and they would expect problems
.....and the best one...

Motorhome tanks by
QrizB
A quick question, if you don't mind!
I'm thinking of getting my petrol camper converted to LPG. I know that
it's possible to get LPG tanks that have a "vapour" take-off, in
additional to the "liquid" one normally used for road vehicles. I
would like to use such a tank, so I can feed my domestic services with
it.
Does anyone have one of these, or know whether I can get one in the
UK?
