fixed mixer sizes... by
Austin Shackles
someone had a formula for what size mixer to fit it a given size engine...
anyone know what it was?
or failing that, what sort of size would the assembled reckon suits a 2.8 V6
ford running open loop? it's a 10.5:1 compression engine, rated 150 BHP on
petrol IIRC, revs to about 6000.
Just replaced the mixer (brass pipe stubs which feed the gas in (2 off,
small) were both cracked. dunno how...

How to drain the vapouriser by
Oliver Keating
Has anyone got any instructions on how to do it? I figure I really should as
it has never been done in the 36k miles the car has been running on LPG, but
of course normal garages won't touch it with a bargepole.

Tuning/setup the LPG system with no gas analyser by
Adam Coombes
Can anyone give me a good guide to setting up my LPG system without
recourse to a gas analyser? Is it possible to tune by ear like a carb
petrol system? I've got some instructions here before (from Mr Shackles
I think) but they all need an exhaust probe which I don't have access to
and can't afford to buy. Could I jury rig something with a lambda sensor
shoved up the pipe (it's a kit with...

For those with a DIY bent by
Stewart Hargrave
Someone pointed me to this website the other day, and ever since I've
been wondering about it's possible application to LPG (it's a
self-build EFI controller).
http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html
Last time I looked at LPG injection technology a few years ago it
seemed to be in an embryonic stage and still problematic. Are there
reliable LPG injectors on the market yet?

Multiple tanks by
QrizB
Please excuse my question, but Google's not helping with an answer!
If you have a LPG installation with more than one tank, and assuming
there's still only one filler on the vehicle and one vapouriser, how
are they all linked up?

Tank Mileage by
Sean Nugent
Has anyone else notice something similar to the following:
I have a 90 litre tank which during summer used to give me approx
280-320 miles on gas. Motorway driving mostly
Now that the temperature has dropped I am getting much higher figures.
I just got 380 miles out of a tankful.
Whilst I expected a difference - thats lot more than what I was
expecting.......

LPG Forecourt rise by
Philip
Hi
My local Petrol station has been selling LPG at 35.9 per Litre for some
time, this has just been upped to 37.9 per litre.
What is the reason for this price hike, anyone know?
Regards
Philip

Backfire protector on a Range Rover - question by
Graeme
Hi all
Folks who read alt.fan.landrover have been bored for weeks by my stupid
questions about my Range Rover - so I've decided to bore somebody else
instead!
I need some advice on the blowback protector as fitted to my LPG V8 Range
Rover
On mine it is an alloy ring that sits between the air meter and the plenum.
It has a hinged flap inside it which, in the event of a backfire, is pushed

Effect on exhaust life by
Paul Morgan
I was wondering if using LPG shortens the life of standard exhausts on cars
with the higher water content in the exhaust.
The exhaust on my Audi has started blowing so I'm going to be replacing it
very shortly and was wondering if it will be worth the extra expense of
fitting a stainless system rather than fitting another mild steel system.
Suggestions?

Backfiring! by
Stew
I've just rebuilt my Mondeo after replacing a burnt exhaust valve :-(
It now runs OK on petrol but is a little rough. On gas (single point
injection system) it backfires!
I suspect there is an air leak somewhere.
1. What's the best way to find an air-leak?
2. If the gas mixture is too lean, what causes the backfire?
Cheers!

Fancy someone in a car? by
Paul Wesley
Have you heard of www.motorflirt.com? Its a brilliant site for meeting
people. If you see someone in a car, you can text them a message using their
number plate direct to their mobile phone. I met a few birds and took them
out
for a drink. Check it out, its free
You can also search their database and send them a message. The good thing
about it, nobody knows who you are, them birds that i met...

ford focus valves/throttle body by
Paul Sanders
I've a focus 1.8 which has done about 18,000 miles on LPG, it did
about 90,000 prior to conversion. I've just had to have a new throttle
body fitted and need some valve work, both of which the Ford dealer
says are due to running on gas. Any ideas whether this is true or not?

Backfiring RangeRover 4.0 (Thor) by
Badger
Hi, all. Friend has a "T" reg. Rangerover, 4.0 V8, it's the later "thor"
style engine with the coil packs behind the manifold. It runs great, but it
has an occasional backfiring problem. It's fitted with an AEB Leonardo
closed-loop system, mixer right up against the throttle body and as short a
gas feed hose from the vapouriser as possible, about 10". So far, it's had
new spark plugs (NGK's,...

BRC Vap & Draining by
The Admiral
Hi All.
I understand that one is supposed to drain the heavy ends from the system's
vaporiser every now and then. I have a BRC AT90E vaporiser... anyone know
what the procedure for this is? I have no instructions or datasheet. The
engine is running roughly at idle and I thought I'd attack this first. It's
a 2litre Golf GTI. runs fine on petrol. Also, for info, it's a Leo closed
loop...

Emptying tank by
Neil Cummins
Hi
I'm having the rear cross-member on my 1983 110 V8 replaced at great
expense. I understand it is a good idea to empty the LPG tank before
starting welding. Clearly I can run it until the engine stops, but is this
enough - I imagine there will be some residue left in the tank. Any
suggestions appreciated.
